Was my pocket torn? Oh no! I pretended it was so, Though I knew beyond a doubt "April Fool!" I'd hear them shout.
Saw a purse, and with a grin, I bent down to take it in. From my hand 'twas snatched away. "April Fool!" I heard them say.
Grandma, wise and calm and cool, Chuckled softly: "Such a fool! Not one day alone, I mean; Such a fool you've always been!"
"Right," says I, "From sun to sun I am foolish, but it's fun! Just to have them laugh at me, Such a fool I'll always be."
