Chapter Four

“Okay first of all, breathe, second of all.. I’m leaving, I’ll let her in on the way out. Good luck man! Go get her!” Brian said as he grabbed his jacket and went for the door.

“Hello? Is anybody in there? Nickers? Rokster? Let me in!” Kaity said pounding on the door.

“Feisty isn’t she?!” Brian commented. Nick laughed as Brian opened the door to Kaity getting ready to pound on the door once again. “Will you please calm down?!” Brian asked as he grabbed Kaity’s raised hand.

“Sorry Rokster..”

“Just a tad bit excited to see Nick huh?” Brian asked laughing to himself.

“Yup! Why wouldn’t I be?” Kaity said as she walked over to Nick and sat down on his lap. “He’s just so cute!” She said tousling his hair. Brian smiled as he watched Nick figure out where to put his hands. Finally he decided and rested them, one on Kaity’s back and one on her upper thigh. Brian winked Nick and left the room, closing the door behind him.

“So.. what do you want to do?” Kaity asked.

“TV?”

“Sure.” She agreed, hopping off of Nick’s lap to grab the television remote control. She made herself comfortable on the floor at the foot of Nick’s bed as he laid on the bed with his head behind Kaity. For the next few minutes Kaity flipped through Nick’s ninety-eight channels as Nick looked at the back of her head.

“That is unbelievable!” Kaity said “How is it possible that out of 98 channels there is NOTHING on! Nothing.” She sat, waiting for his response but got none. “Nick?” She asked looking up at him.

“It’s now or never.” Nick thought to himself. He took a deep breath and turned his attention to Kaity. She looked up at him as he turned towards her and gave him an odd look.

“You okay Nickers?? You have this really weird look on your face...Nick?” She asked as she began to notice Nick moving his face closer to hers. His hand moved to her chin tilting her face to his and looked into her eyes. She gazed up at him and recognized nervousness in his eyes, this for some reason calmed her.

“Should I?” He asked himself. In his head he weighed each option. Kiss her and possibly win her love or possibly lose her all together. Or, not kiss her and keep things the way they are now.... Kaity’s eyes met his giving him a concerned look. That was when he saw something he had never noticed before; there were tiny almost unnoticeable green specks scattered in her deep chocolate brown eyes. His stomach did a flip as his eyes searched hers. Noticing the queasy, excited feeling in his stomach, he made the decision. What they had...strong, loyal, deep friendship just wasn’t enough. He need her to need him, want him, love him like he loved her, he wanted to do this. He leaned in to kiss her; his lips lightly brushed against hers and he felt a shiver run through his body.
