Chapter Ten


He could have sworn she had just said she loved him. His heart lept into his throat as he waited for her to repeat herself. “Please say you love me.” He thought to himself.

“I love you.” She said with more courage. When she got no response she looked up at him expecting him to be uncomfortable or upset, but what she saw was the exact opposite. Nick’s eyes were shining like she had never seen them shine before. He moved his mouth to say something but all that came out was a small squeak. Brushing his hands over her cheeks he cupped her face. She searched his eyes for his answer as he looked deeply into hers.

“Wow.” he whispered as he brushed his finger tips over her cheekbones. She looked at him in confusion and fear. He could sense her nervousness and knew that this was the right moment. “I love you too.” he said quietly, so the words reached her ears only. Her face changed before his eyes. Eyes widening, she broke out into a smile before pulling him into a hug. He held tightly to her as she whispered her feelings over and over again into his ear. Closing his eyes, he relished in the moment, knowing that for the rest of his life, he would remember this night, the night that he had confessed his love to a girl for the first time, and truly known that he loved her with his entire being. Just that thought brought tears to his eyes. He was in love, truly in love. The feeling was remarkable. This strong sense of fulfillment over took his body. He felt as though there was nothing else in the world that would make him happy. The emotions both pleased and alarmed.

“What is this?” Kaity asked as she pulled away and caught sight of Nick’s tear streaked face.

“Sorry.” He said as he brought his hand up to his face wiping the tears with the back of his hand. “I just got really emotional.”

“Yeah, I guess so.” Kaity said using her thumbs to wipe the tears from his cheeks. “That’s the first time that I’ve said that to someone and actually known in my heart that I meant it.”

“Really?” she asked as Nick nodded his head.

“I really truly love you Kaity. I love you so much.” he said, teardrops creeping out of his eyes again. He tried to blink them away, but they fell any way.

“Aw, Nick don’t cry, you’re gonna make me cry.” Kaity whispered as her voice began to shake. Nick looked up to the ceiling attempting to stop the droplets running down his cheeks. Kaity let out a giggle, forcing Nick to laugh too.

“What are you laughing about?” he asked smiling through his tears.

“This. We’re both crying.” she said smiling back as tears overflowed from her eyes as well.

“Well, it’s a special moment.”

“Yes it is.” Kaity said pulling Nick towards her and gently kissed away his tears.

“You are so good to me.” Nick commented as Kaity kissed his lips lightly. Kaity giggled. “I was thinking...” he began.

“About what?” Kaity asked as she ran her fingers through Nick’s blond locks.

“Will you come on tour with me?”

“Tour?” Kaity questioned in awe.

“Yeah, tour, I’m leaving to tour the U.S. in two weeks. I simply cannot leave you behind after we just made this gigantic step in our relationship.”

“I don’t know how my parents are going to react to this one, Nick.”

“You have to come, I’ll talk to them. I can’t live without you for three months.”

“I know I’d miss you too much.”

“Do you want to ask them together?” Nick offered.

“That seems like the most logical thing to do. That way, you can give them all the details.” Kaity stated.

“When do you want to ask them?”

“Tomorrow.”

“Oh, Nick what if they say no?! I cannot have you gone for three months..thats will be three months of hell!”

“I know, baby. Trust me I know.”

“Nicky...”

“Hmmm?” Nick asked twirling a strand of Kaity’s hair.

“What will happen to us if you go and I stay?”

“Well, we go on. I love you and you love me..so we love each other, but are apart.”

“I hate this.” Kaity said crossing her arms in anger.

“What?”

“Just when we discover we can have something, we have to be apart. It’s not fair.”

“Hey now..don’t jump to conclusions okay? Your parents just might let you come.”

“Wishful thinking??” Kaity asked giggling a little.

“Yes, exactly. So what do you want to do now?”

“Oh you know what I want to do...” Kaity said smirking at him.

“Do I now?”

“Yes you do.” Kaity answered seductively before giggling again. Nick watched in amusement as she tried to act sexy, but ended up laughing too hard to continue. She batted her eyelashes at him in between snickers and ran her hand down his chest. He watched her carefully trying his best not to crack a smile. Eventually he let go and laughed. Kaity smiled up at him briefly before pulling his mouth to hers. Her lips were so soft and sweet. Nick never got tired of kissing her. He was one man who absolutely loved to kiss. Just the act of it made him feel closer and more loved by that special person. He inhaled her scent again, flowers. She always smelt of fresh flowers. Threading his fingers through her hair he pulled her closer so he could feel the warmth radiating off of her small body. His hands glided through her dark brown hair as she massaged his tongue with hers. Sighing deeply Nick hugged her body close once more before pulling away.

“Sweetie, I better get going.”

“Already? You just got here.” Kaity pouted.

“I know, baby, but I have to get up early tomorrow and go to rehearsal.”

“I though you were on a break.”

“Technically, I am. But Kevin thought it would be a good thing if we met once during the break to go over the choreography and songs before we go back to Fatima.” Nick explained as he continued to run his fingers through Kaity’s hair.

“I will get to see you right?”

“Of course you will. I can’t even go ten hours without seeing you, there is no way I can live through an entire day.” Nick said smiling.

“Good. Stop by tomorrow and we can talk to my parents about tour.”

“Sounds like a plan.” Nick answered pushing himself off of Kaity and standing. He helped her stand before he kissed her forehead. She smiled up at him and grasped his hand.

“I’m walking you home.” Kaity whispered.

“Aww, you don’t have to do that.”

“I want to.”

“Alright, come on.” Nick replied leading her to the front hall so she could put her sandals back on while he shoved his feet in his sneakers without unlacing them. Typical guy. “Ready?” Kaity nodded and he opened the door for her. The two strolled across Kaity’s lawn before reaching the gate.

“Bye.”

“Bye.”

“I love you.” Nick whispered.

“I love you too.” Kaity whispered back as Nick’s lips touched hers. Nick pulled Kaity into a tight hug. Whispering his love for her once more he let her go and turned towards his house.

“See you tomorrow, Nick.”

“Tomorrow.” Nick replied reaching his backdoor. Unlocking it, he gave Kaity a wave and disappeared into his house.

“You have no idea how long I have dreamed about that moment.” Brian said finally pulling away from Emily. She smiled in return.

“Me too.”

“Em...Wow. I don’t know what I would have done if Nick and Kaity hadn’t set us up. I am such a wimp.”

“Why? Because you were scared?”

“Yes. I was too chicken to ask you out. When all this time, I was depressed because I wasn’t with you, I could have had you all along.”

“Don’t fret over it now. I am so giving Kaity a huge hug when I see her. She basically made all my dreams come true.”

“Do you want to come over tomorrow night? It’ll be just you and me. I’ll order a pizza or something, you like pizza right?”

“Love it.”

“Great, we’ll hang out. Get to know each other all over again.”

“Sounds nice.”

“Is that a yes?”

“Yes.”

“Great.” Brian said lacing his hand with Emily’s. “Did I tell you how beautiful you looked tonight?”

“No, actually you didn’t.” Emily said smiling playfully.

“Well, you look absolutely beautiful. I was having a hard time controlling myself through that movie.”

“Really? I did notice you being a bit squeamish.” Emily replied giggling slightly.

“Squeamish?? I don’t think I have ever been described as that.”

“First time for everything.”

“Yes there is. But I happen to like repetition.” Brian said quietly as he tilted Emily’s face towards his again and kissed her. “Did you know that you have the softest lips I have ever kissed?”

“No I did not know that.” Emily said.

“Well, now you do.” Brian said brushing his lips against hers once more.

“Brian, thank you.” Emily said pulling out of the kiss.

“For what?” Brian asked twirling a piece of her hair around is finger.

“Tonight, it was basically a dream come true.” Emily said shyly.

“For me too. Em, I’ve wanted to hold you, kiss you, go on a date with you for God knows how long.” Brian said.

“Well, you have that now.” Emily said standing up. “I better be getting inside, my parents are waiting up for me.”

“Yeah, I have an early morning tomorrow anyway. It was great going out with you tonight.”

“You gonna call me tomorrow?” Emily asked climbing the steps to her front door.

“Of course, what time do you get up?”

“9?” Emily estimated.

“Cool, I’ll give you a call after 9. Hey..” Brian said as Emily reached for the door knob. “kiss?”

“Aww, sure.” Emily said descending down the steps to meet Brian on the front walk. She pressed her lips to his softly in a sweet kiss. “I’ll talk to you tomorrow, Brian.”

“Yeah, t-tomorrow.” Brian stuttered, still in shock from the kiss. Emily smiled, kissed him once on the cheek and went inside. Brian stood in front of her house for a few minutes taking the night. He owed Nick big time for this. Brian shook his head as he turned and headed for his car.
