Epilogue

“I remember the day that I confessed my love to you.” Nick began. He gazed down at Gretchen as he spoke the words. The crowd before them sat, silently, watching the exchange of vows. “It was nervous, afraid, I thought you wouldn’t feel the same. But you did, Gretchen. You loved me as much as I loved you. To say that I was happy would be an understatement. The relationship was hard. There were a lot of people against us, but we were strong. We survived on love alone. Today is the happiest day of my life. You will be my wife. There are millions of phrases or words that can be used to describe you, but there is only one that I want to use. Mine. You are my world. I love you with all my heart, I always have, and I always will, Brown Eyes.” he finished, slipping the golden band on her ring finger. He smiled down at Gretchen and gently wiped a few stray tears from her face.

“Nickolas, my Baby Blue. When you gazed down at me, that hectic day seven years ago, and spoke the words that I had longed to hear, I couldn’t breathe. My dream had come true. This unrealistic fantasy that I had conjured up in my head the day that I met you, was real. You loved me. Those words ‘I love you’ had never meant more to me than when they fell from your lips. You were my world and you became my universe. My hands are yours to hold, my lips are yours to kiss, I am yours to love.” Gretchen paused to catch her breath. She gazed up at Nick, her fiancée...the man she was marrying. He was beautiful. “I love you Nickolas, with my whole heart, my body, my soul. I am yours forever.” She slowly slid the wedding band up his ring finger. He squeezed her hand.

“By the power invested in me, I now pronounce you, husband and wife.” the priest recited. “You may kiss the bride.” Nick caught Gretchen’s lips with his, and delivered a passionate kiss to seal the vows. The applause was distant. The only thing either one was aware of was each other. They were together, married, husband and wife. They had begun years ago when Gretchen was nothing but a teenager, and now, both adults, they had promised each other a love that would last forever. Nick pulled away. His ocean blue eyes met her chocolate ones. Finally... she was his.

I’m confessing that I love you
Tell me that you love me too
I’m confessing that I need you
Honest I do...
Need you every moment...
