Chapter 1

"She sent you upstairs?" Lucky said to Elizabeth for about the fourth time since they started walking to school. Lucky wanted to hear all about the big confrontation that went down between Elizabeth and Audrey the night before, but was very surprised to hear that there hadn't been one.

"That's what I said Lucky.....she told me that she needed to think some things over and asked me to go upstairs" Elizabeth said calmly trying to be casual about it. The truth was Elizabeth was very nervous with the way Gram had acted towards her last night. So calm, so cool...Elizabeth shivered at the thought. Lucky was too caught up in a world of his own to even notice. Good thing, Elizabeth thought. I'm probably just being silly, and I don't want him to think that I'm worried.

"Aren't you worried?" Lucky spat out at that moment. Too late, she thought. He always could read my thoughts.

"About what Lucky?" She asked, covering. "That she's not going to let me see you? No, I'm not worried about that.......Do I think that a punishment is coming that might be a little severe? Probably.....but honestly, do I have a right to complain about it?" All of a sudden, Lucky stopped in his tracks and looked over at a bewildered Elizabeth with a huge grin on his face, "No, you don't...but I don't believe that's ever stopped you before."

A smile slowly crept up onto Elizabeth's lips as she started laughing. "Got me there." Both of them continued to laugh as they resumed their walk to school. Suddenly Elizabeth felt as if maybe things weren't that bad after all. That maybe, for once, things really would be alright.

~~~~~
Audrey had been pacing back and forth in her house for the past hour. She was second guessing herself once again. Had she made the right choice? Should she have given Elizabeth another chance? But what was the use? She'd only break the rules again....she'd apologize over and over and promise that it wouldn't happen again, and she'd mean it.....but it wouldn't happen. But was this too cruel? Was this the way to teach Elizabeth her lesson? Would it even work?
Before Audrey could even begin to answer those questions, the door bell rang. Audrey looked towards the door, almost afraid to open it. "Oh Elizabeth....please know how sorry I am."
~~~~~~

"I have to go," Elizabeth said, jumping up from Lucky's bed where they had been attempting to do homework. It had been a good try at least. In the beginning, both stayed on their own side of the bed, but it only took 15 minutes before both of them were on one side having resumed the position they'd been in the night before. It took all the strength Elizabeth had to pull away from Lucky and breathlessly tell him that she had to go.

"Elizabeth, it's only 6:30...you don't have to be home for a while," Lucky said, trying to catch his breath as he tried to coerce Elizabeth to lay back down beside him. She was almost persuaded. Almost.

"I can't...Lucky, you saw my grandmother last night. I don't want to make this situation worse, so I'm gonna try and make it better. And I can start with not only showing up on time, but being early. I'm gonna make her dinner...try and get back into her good graces."

"Elizabeth do you really think that's wise?", Lucky asked, scrunching his face. "I mean...if you want to get back into her good graces, shouldn't you promise NEVER to cook again?"

Elizabeth's mouth dropped open as she picked up a pillow from the bed and hurled it at him. Lucky caught it. "I'm sorry," he laughed. "I had to."

Elizabeth only smiled. Lucky sighed as he gave in, beginning to get off the bed. He didn't want to say anything but the truth was, he too had been a little nervous when he saw Audrey the night before. He wasn't sure what she would do. And when Elizabeth told him that Audrey hadn't done anything, the knot in his stomach tightened just a little more. Your overreacting Spencer, he thought, chiding himself.

Lucky quickly helped Elizabeth on with her coat as they neared the door. She smiled as he arranged the hood in back. He was always doing little things like that. Constantly taking care of her. She sighed as she turned around to face him. "I love you," she wispered.

Lucky leaned in kissing her lightly on the forehead as he held her face in his hands. "I love you too....let's go," he added as he smiled that gorgeous smile at her.

"Ok," Liz said cheerily, as Lucky opened the door for her. Everything was right in the world.

~~~~~~~~~~~
"Okay, this is where I get off" Lucky said letting go of Elizabeth's hand and stepping away from the door as Elizabeth was about to open it.
Elizabeth turned around and looked at him questioningly. She wasn't quite ready for him to leave.
Lucky quickly picked up on her hesitance. "It's just that you need this time with your grandmother. You wanted to make amends and I'm all for that. I just think it should be the two of you...maybe go one night without Audrey having to see my face at dinner," he chuckled lightly.
Liz was about to disagree, but seeing the look on Lucky's face, told her she wouldn't win this one. A smile crept upon her lips. I can still have a little fun before he leaves though, she thought.
Elizabeth pulled Lucky close to her as she leaned back against the door. "Elizabeth" Lucky muttered in a 'What do you think your doing?' tone...... Elizabeth fained innocence, as she smiled widely. "Lucky! I only wanted to give you a kiss goodnight!"
Lucky leaned in, his lips meeting hers in a soft, yet firm kiss. He grinned against her lips as her hands found the collar of his jacket, tugging him in closer and deepening their kiss.
Elizabeth continued to kiss him as she reached behind her, searching for the door knob. She pulled Lucky inside. Their lips still pressing against each others, her other hand still attached to his jacket. She was quite happy that she hadn't seen Gram's car in the driveway, because she was having way too much fun to stop now. Before Liz could deepen the kiss further, Lucky removed his lips from hers, starting to place continuous kisses down her neck.
Elizabeth groaned, causing Lucky to look up and suddenly realize that he and Elizabeth weren't as "alone" as they thought. Lucky froze in place unable to find words. Even if he had found them, he was sure they wouldn't have come out of his mouth. Elizabeth felt Lucky tense up and pulled away from him slightly to see him looking beyond her at something.
"Lucky, what's wrong?", she asked, concern filling her voice.
Lucky took a deep breath and began the task of attempting to talk, making sure not to take his eyes off the people standing before him.
"Uh...Elizabeth.," Lucky whispered close to her ear. "There are a couple of really angry looking people looking at us right now... I'm gonna pray that your gonna turn around and tell me that they aren't your parents."
Elizabeth simply stared at Lucky for what seemed like a lifetime. It couldn't be, could it? Her parents were on the other side of the world. They couldn't possibly be in her living room. She closed her eyes and inhaled deeply as she slowly turned around. "You didn't pray hard enough," she said through gritted teeth. "Hi mom......dad"
Chapter 2
Liz stood in shock, as her parents rose from the couch and approached her. She hadn't seen them in so long, she thought the images before her might be a dream.
"Aren't you gonna give me a hug sweetheart," Jeff Webber asked, as he moved closer, smiling at his youngest daughter.
Her father's booming voice woke Liz from her trance as she unfroze. Smiling at her parents for the first time. Lucky felt her hand slip out of his as she made her way over to them, enveloping first her dad and then her mother in a hug. "How...wh-what are you guys doing here?"
Lucky stood back, near the door wondering the same thing. What *were* they doing here? After all this time. Something wasn't right. 'Stop that, Spencer,' Lucky thought to himself. 'You're being way too suspicious. geez...aren't her parents aloud to come visit her?...Besides, look how happy she is...anything that makes her smile like that is a good thing.'
"Well, we came to see our daughter," Susan Webber said, taking her daughters hands in hers. "Is that all right with you?" She said jokingly.
"Yes," Elizabeth said, almost too surprised to get the word out. "Of course...I just didn't expect you... Did you call Gram to let her know you were coming?"
Jeff looked to his wife, both of them sharing an awkward glance. He quickly turned back to an anxious Liz. "Yes, Lizzie, we talked to your grandmother, but we all agreed that it would be kinda neat to surprise you."
Liz laughed at her father's terminology. "Yeah," she smiled. "Neat." She looked behind her then, staring at Lucky. He'd been far too quiet. "Mom...Dad," she said turning back towards them. "There's someone I'd like you to meet."
Lucky walked forward then, as if on cue. "This is my boyfriend Lucky Spencer," Liz smiled as he extended his hand towards Jeff. She could tell he was nervous and was afraid she hadn't made it any easier by calling him her "boyfriend." For some reason, no matter how many times she said it, it still made him blush. She bit her lip to keep from laughing. She couldn't believe her parents were finally meeting the love of her life. This was so awesome.
Jeff hesitantly extended his hand towards Lucky, a move only Lucky seemed to notice. As he made his way over to Mrs. Webber, he could still feel Jeff's eyes on him. Quickly Lucky stepped back to stand next to Elizabeth and looked to see her smiling at him. 'She's happy to see her parents,' he thought. 'There is NO reason for me to be so paranoid about this.'
"So, how long are you guys staying?" Elizabeth asked breaking Lucky out of his trance.
"Oh.... well sweetie, we can talk about that later...for right now, we'd very much like to take our daughter out to dinner...we have a lot of catching up to do" Jeff said taking Elizabeth's hands in his own, "We missed you so much."
Elizabeth smiled back at her Dad. She actually surprised herself with how happy she was to see them. Granted her and her parents had never had the best relationship, but this was a chance to start things over. Plus, she had to admit that she loved being able to introduce Lucky to them. She suddenly felt all giddy. "OK, dinner, sounds great.....Can Lucky come?"
Jeff and Susan exchanged glances before Susan responded. "You know what Lizzie, it's been so long since we've seen you and uh...I....well......"
"What your mother is trying to say" Jeff said taking over for his wife, "Is that I'm sure Lucky would understand that we'd like to have some quality time with you alone " he added, looking directly into Lucky's eyes, "Wouldn't you Lucky?"
'There goes that chill again,' Lucky thought. Everytime Jeff looked at him, he got this feeling that there was something wrong. He didn't know what it was. It's like he took an automatic dislike to him. Lucky shook it off and causally responded, "Yeah absolutely Elizabeth....your Dad's right. It's been a long time..you should go."
"Well,........ok" Elizabeth said, slightly disappointed. She looked towards her father and for the first time, saw him staring at Lucky with a very weird look on his face. Elizabeth laughed to herself thinking that her Dad was already going into overprotective mode. 'We'll have to put a stop to that very quickly,' she thought.
"OK, well that's probably my cue," Lucky said as he made his way over to Mrs. Webber again. "It was a pleasure to meet you Mrs. Webber."
Susan simply nodded and smiled briefly at Lucky. "It was nice meeting you as well Lucky."
Elizabeth smiled. She still couldn't get over how great this was. Her parents and her boyfriend finally in the same room. Sure, her dad seemed a bit leery of Lucky, but that was to be expected right? Weren't all fathers protective of their little girls?
Her thoughts were interrupted when she felt Lucky's hand slip into hers once again. She looked up at him, grinning. "I'm going to walk Lucky out, you guys...then you can feel free to take me out to dinner and spend lots of money on me!" She said, laughing. Her mother laughed as well. Jeff however, didn't seem as amused. His mouth only curled slightly at the edges.
Elizabeth shook it off, deciding to ignore it. It wasn't as if her father had ever had a sense of humor in the first place. She tightened her grip on Lucky's hand and led him outside.
Lucky closed the door behind him as he leaned against the fence surrounding the porch. He sighed as Elizabeth took both of his hands in hers and leaned against his chest. He looked down and smiled. "You're a happy camper, aren't you?"
Liz's smile broadened as she looked up at his face. However, it quickly faded when she saw the look in his eyes. "What's wrong?" She asked, concern filling her voice.
Lucky took a deep breath and shook his head. He didn't want to bring her down when she was obviously on cloud 9, over her parents finally coming home. "I don't know Elizabeth...I just...I don't know. I just got this really strange feeling in there."
"What do you mean?" She asked, pulling away a bit to look directly at him.
"I don't think your father likes me very much," he said, grinning slightly.
"Oh," Liz said, smiling again. "Don't worry about that Lucky...My father is just like that. It just takes him awhile to get used to new people you know? He's weird." She laughed. "You just wait...once he gets to know you, he'll love you!"
Lucky laughed then, pulling her back towards him. "Oh," he said, his voice lowering flirtatiously. "You think your father's gonna be my number one fan, huh?"
"No...that would be me." She said flatly. Lucky laughed out loud.
"OK," he said, still laughing. "So...number one fan, can I expect a visit from you tonight after your dinner?"
Liz bit her lip, then kissed him softly on the cheek. "What do you think?"
"I think I love you," He whispered as he kissed her back, gently upon the lips. "See ya tonight," he said, as he walked backwards leaving her hands, and drifting down the steps.
Elizabeth smiled and blew him a kiss as he left. "And I love you," she said softly as she watched him leave.
