Liz moved swiftly around her room, making sure everything looked just so. Everything was just the way they should be for the first time they made love. She laughed at herself now as she gave quick thought to what "just so" could possibly mean. What? Did that mean the bed was straightened, and her clothes weren't lying around on the floor?

What was she so nervous about? This was what she wanted right? Of course it was. Now, if she could just get the small nagging voice in the back of her head to shut up. The voice that kept asking, Is this the right time? Are you doing this for the right reasons?

She quickly shushed the voice as she stole a glance at herself in the mirror. Fluffing her hair with her fingers. She looked down quickly at her outfit. Oh jeez, she thought, running to her drawer. I gotta put on some cute underwear. Again she laughed at herself for acting like life depended on these tiny little details.

"Life does depend on it," she said aloud to herself stilling her hurried movements.

She sat down on her bed, remembering what today was. What the main goal was. Hurry home Lucky. Hurry back to me.

Lucky looked down at his watch. It had only been 10 minutes since he'd left Elizabeth's. He was making excellent time. She wouldn't be worried yet.

He had to laugh at himself for coming up with the idea of saying he didn't have a condom. It had been a great excuse in record time. Good job, Spencer, he thought to himself. Of course the condom had been snugly tucked in his wallet the entire time, but she didn't have to know that. Her belief of him going to the store would give him the opportunity to pick the candles up from his apartment. The ones she had just recently bought for him.

He'd thought about letting it go. Believing her statement of not needing any "little girl fantasies." That she didn't need candles or light bouncing off the walls, but he couldn't do it. If they were going to make love for the first time, tonight...they were going to do it right. Fantasies and all.

Elizabeth smoothed the nonexistent wrinkles from the comforter one last time before settling down once again. She sighed as she leaned against the head board. "11:30," she yawned, looking at the clock on the nightstand. "This day is almost over." She picked up Boris, holding the stuffed animal to her chest as she spoke. "Almost Boris....almost," she said fighting an all consuming yawn. "We're almost there Lucky."

Lucky jiggled his key in the lock. It always seemed to stick whenever he was in a rush. Of course tonight would be no exception. He sighed in satisfactory as it finally swung open. "Ok, candles...where are you?" He said aloud to no one in particular as he searched the room. His eyes scanned the table to his right, around to the far side of the bed, the shelves on the wall unit by his closet. Nothing.

Finally his eyes rested on the nightstand. "Heeeellloooo," he laughed. "They're right in front of your face."

He took a deep breath. Stop being so nervous, he thought as he picked up the wax cylinders.

I've got sunshine
On a cloudy day....

They danced in Luke's, him twirling her. Her smiling. Really finally his girl...Officially.

When it's cold outside
I've got the month of May

They danced and they danced right into the No Name, where his hands wrapped around her. She could feel his soft palms on her back. Caressing her shoulderblades. Nothing had ever felt so good. His blue jacket...his blue eyes....so blue....so blue....the color so bright...so vivid. Wydemere...the waltz. The first dance...the first time she'd been this close. The wall still there, but slowly...slowly coming down....make-believe school dances in living rooms....red streamers on the night that changed her life forever...for the better....for good...forever. His smell...his touch...Their life together just beginning...just beginning...

"BLING!!!!!!"

Elizabeth shot up from the bed with a start. She looked frantically around her room, wiping the sweat beads from her forehead with the back of her hand.

What was that? Where was she?. "What happened?" She asked out loud, her voice shaking.

The light was still on. Where was she? At home? Yes, waiting for Lucky. The phone rang again as her haze started to clear.

How long had she slept. She silently cursed herself for falling asleep as she picked up the phone. "Hello?"

"Hey sweetie...it's me. It's taking me a little longer than I thought...I'll be there soon, ok?"

"What?" She asked, swinging her legs over the side of the bed. "Lucky where are you? Are you on a pay phone? I thought you were just going to the store..."

Lucky smiled on the other end on the line. She would be stunned when he got back with her surprise. "Don't worry I'll be back in a bit. I just needed to stop and pick something else up....it's a surprise....No more questions, ok?"

"Ok," she said gently. He was always thinking of little things to do for her. She couldn't imagine what he had done now.

"I love you Elizabeth,"

"I love you too."

"See ya soon."

"See ya," she whispered, lowering the reciever.

A shiver ran up her spine so fast, that her fingers gave way, causing the phone to bang violently against it's cradle. She gasped, standing up as she finally imagined what he could be doing. What her surprise was. What the phone call had meant. "Oh my God....No!"

Lucky gently placed the round candles into a plastic bag. Carefully trying not to scratch them or damage the wicks. Suddenly his hand stilled. His head shooting up.

A sound. Something, somewhere in the distance. No. Not far at all. Something was coming. Something was close. Too close to run.

He walked calmly towards the door, turning the deadbolt lock. Breathe, he silently instructed himself. Don't panic...just think...and breathe. Still no sound but the click of the metal sliding into place. No sound. Stillness.

The hairs on the back of his neck stood at attention, as he listened. Still. Soundless. Voiceless. The calm before the storm. Dead calm.
