Chapter 23

"Mr. Spencer would you please go serve our customers?" asked Liz as Lucky
continued to kiss her neck. She was trapped between his arms and the
countertop in the kitchen.

She had decided to help Lucky run Kelly's for the day, wanting to spend every
waking minute before Monday with him. Laura had even volunteered to close up
for them that night so they could go out and have some fun.

Suddenly the phone rang. "Ah ha!" said Liz leaning backwards away from Lucky.
"Now you have to let me go so I can answer the phone."

"Not necessarily," mumbled Lucky as he continued to kiss her. He wrapped one
arm around her small waist, and used the other to answer the phone.

"Good afternoon, Kelly's. How may I help you?"

Liz watched Lucky's mouth in rapt facination as he spoke into the receiver.
'Jeez,' she thought,'Everything he does turns me on.' Suddenly she felt
Lucky's arm drop from around her waist.

"It's for you," he said, hesitantly handing her the phone.

Liz took the phone, wondering why Lucky's mood had changed so suddenly. Audrey
and Emily were the only people who ever called her on the line in Kelly's.

"Hello?"

"Hey Liz. It's me, Kyle. Sorry to call you at work, but I talked to my uncle
today and he said that he's gotta a spot at the gallery just waiting for you
if you want it. So I was wondering if you'd thought about the offer."

'Ugh!' Thought Liz to herself. 'So that's what the expression on Lucky's face
is all about. He's thinking, why the hell is Kyle calling my wife?' She was
thinking the same thing. 'How did he get this number? He must have called
information, but why would he even go through all the trouble? Oh, who cares.
I'll just hurry up and get him off the phone.' Liz's mind reeled.

Liz cleared her throat. "Honestly Kyle, I haven't really had the chance to
give it much thought. I haven't even discussed it with Lucky yet."

Lucky stopped sliceing tomatoes and looked up at her, hearing his name. He
couldn't make out the rest of the conversation. All he could figure out was
that Elizabeth seemed to be trying very hard to get him off of the phone:

"Ok....Uh-huh...Ok...Alright....I don't know...Soon...Ok....Bye."

"So what was that all about?" asked Lucky, trying to sound casual as Liz hung
up the phone.

"Oh, nothing really," said Liz walking over to Lucky. "Kyle was just telling
me about this job. You see, his uncle owns this big art gallery in the city
and he says that he's looking for a pair of extra hands, so he thought of me.
He was just wondering whether or not I wanted the job."

'It's just a job, you ass.' Thought Lucky. 'Jeez, man chill out.'

Lucky really wasn't the jealous type, but he was a bit overprotective when it
came to Liz and the rest of the male species. Her being so far away so much
didn't help matters either.

"Sounds cool," Lucky said smiling. "Do you want to take it?"

"I don't know." Liz said shrugging her shoulders. "What do you think I should
do? I mean he assured me that he'd work around my schedule...but I don't
know..."

"Elizabeth you know I'm not going to tell you what to do. If you want the job,
I say go for it, but if not don't fill obligated to take it."

Lucky narrowed the space between them and wrapped his arms around her. "You
know, that I can handle this right? I mean financially. If you're worried that
we need the money, don't be. We're fine. Your education is much more important
to me than you getting a job."

Liz nodded. She knew that Lucky would say that. "I don't know. I sounds really
cool, but I've only been in school for a week. Maybe I should wait and see
what my work load is going to be like, before I jump into anything. I'm sure
Kyle will understand."

A thought suddenly occured to Lucky. He laughed out loud.

"Hey, does Reese work there?'

"No," Liz replyed.

"Wow, how's she gonna feel when she finds out that her boyfriend offered you
the job and not her?"

"Kyle isn't Reeses's boyfriend," said Liz cocking her head in surprise.

"Huh?" asked Lucky in confusion. "I thought they were together."

"Oh, I must have forgotten to tell you...yeah I thought they were a couple
that first night too, but Reese set me straight pretty quick," giggled Liz.
"They used to go out,but now they're just friends."

"Yeah?" asked Lucky, leaning back against the countertop. "Hmmm...You must
have forgot."

Chapter 24

"So how did you like the movie?" Lucky asked wrapping his arms around Liz's
waist from behind.

The chill of the cold air made Liz snuggle back against him, she turned to
look up at his face upon hearing his question. "Like I saw any of it?," she
replyed giggling.

"Mrs. Spencer what are you implying?"asked Lucky in mock astonishment.

"I'm implying that I seem to remember being otherwise occupyed. I'm implying
that next time you wanna make out, we should just do it at home or right here
on the docks so you can save $7.50."

"Well I don't remember you protesting little missy...besides it was $15.00."

"You got me," Liz laughed.

"Yeah," sighed Lucky. "I got you," he replyed before closing the space between
them with a kiss. "Man, I missed this," Lucky said, pulling away. "I missed
just being able to hold you in my arms. I missed looking at the way your skin
glows in the moonlight."

Liz sighed and reached up, cupping Lucky's face in her hands. "I love you,"
she wispered before kissing him.

"I've got a little surprise for you," said Lucky after they both were forced
to come up for air.

"What!?" squealed Liz, already jumping up and down in his arms.

"Now if I tell you, it won't be a surprise, now will it?" Lucky grinned.

He loved the way she always got so excited over surprises. She was such a
little kid sometimes.

"Lucky!" Liz whined, swinging his arms back and forth.

"Elizabeeeeeeeeeth!" Lucky whined, mocking her.

Liz playfully socked Lucky's shoulder.

"Come on," Lucky said taking his wife's hand. "It's waiting for you at home."
