Chapter 1
"Oh my God, Liz," gasped Emily as her friend emerged
from the fitting room in
her wedding gown.
Emily, Bobbie, and Elizabeth had all gone to the seamstress for
their last
fittings before the wedding. Luke, Laura and Audrey had all
gotton used to the
idea of Liz nad Lucky getting married so they had decided to all
chip in and
pay for the wedding.
"Liz, honey you look absolutely gorgeous," said Bobbie
as she walked over to
Liz and began smoothing the creases in the bottom half of her
dress.
Liz looked at herself in the mirror. The dress had turned out
exactly the way
she had imagined it. The form fitting ivory satin hit the floor
as she walked,
and the light in the store hit the beaded trim just right. Liz
turned around
and looked over her shoulder at her reflection in the three sided
mirror. The
corset type lacing up the back of the dress made her already tiny
waist look
even smaller. As she looked at the top of the dress she was
reminded of the
ball gown she had worn in the studio that day playing dress up
with Emily and
danceing with Lucky. That day seemed so far away, but she could
not help but
think that maybe subconciously she had designed her wedding gown
the same way.
It was perfect.
"This is really happening isn't it?" asked Liz as she
turned to her friends.
Bobbie and Emily both nodded in unison.
"Not getting cold feet are you?" asked Emily jokingly.
"No way, " replied Liz, never having been so sure of
anything in her life.
"Liz, not to change the subject or anything," began
Bobbie glancing at the
lavender maid of honor gown that Emily wore and her own
bridesmaid gown of the
same color. "But isn't your sister supposed to be here for
her fitting too?"
"Yeah, but my family couldn't get a flight out of Bosnia
until 4 days before
the wedding." LIz said with a sigh. "I gave the
seamstress Sarah's
measurements though. Hopefully it'll fit. I'm just glad they're
coming."
Liz's parents still weren't happy about the wedding, but at least
they were
coming. This was the first time that Liz would see her parents in
over 2
years.

"You mean to tell me that you and Liz are actually going to
be living in this
room?"asked Nikolas as he took yet another box from Lucky
and sat it on the
floor.
"Look, not everyone can live in a castle," answered
Lucky sarcasticly as he
wiped the sweat beads from his brow with the back of his hand.
"You know I didn't mean it that way Lucky. I just
meant....isn't it a little
cramped?"
"It's no smaller thant the room I had over the
bikeshop," said Lucky.
"Besides, this is only temporary. It's only until we can
save up enough cash
to get a house."
"Hey, what are you going to do with that old room
anyways?" asked Nikolas
knowing the sentimental value that it held for Liz and Lucky.
A smile suddenly appeared on Lucky's face. "Oh! Get this!
Jason is letting
Elizabeth have the place - RENT FREE - to use as her own personal
art studio,
whenever she wants to just go over there and paint or hang out or
whatever."
"Rent free?" asked Nikolas somewhat surprised that his
brother's fierce pride
would even tolerate such an offer.
"Yeah. He kinda talked us into it. It's not like he needs
the money anymore
now that he's back in the business."
The two brothers had been moving boxes and chatting all Saturday
afternoon
over the now vacant restaurant. Lucky and Liz had decided to wait
until after
graduation and the wedding to open it back up again.
"Hmm. Man, it's hot," said Nikolas as he lugged yet
another box through the
hall and into the small room. "What do you say we take a
break and go get some
lunch. My treat," said Nikolas.
"Jeez, you take one thing - rent free and all of a sudden
you're a charity
case," joked Lucky.
Nikolas responded simply by playfully shoving Lucky out of the
room.
Chapter 2
"Thankyou so much for all your help Reginald," said
Emily as the Quartermaine
butler helped her to hang the last streamer.
"Your welcome Emily," said Reginald. "Wow...a
greatful Quartermaine. Can those
two words even be used in the same sentence?"
Emily laughed at Reginalds' sarcasm. She had been working at a
fevered pace to
decorate the Quartermaine mansion from the second she had walked
in that
afternoon. She and her friends had no sooner graduated
highschool, when she
sped off with Nikolas toward home. Liz and Lucky had found it
very odd that
she was throwing herself her own graduation party. Little did
they know that
the major blow-out was really a for them. It was a surprise
engagement party
in disguise.
"Alright Reginald. I've got exaclty one hour to get
gorgeous!" Emily said as
she took off for the stairs.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~2 hours later~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
The pary was in full swing and practically everyone in Port
Charles was
gathered at the Quartermaine mansion that night. The guests of
honor were the
only ones not there yet, but they would arrive at any moment.
Emily was busy being the charming hostess, making sure that
everyone was
having a good time, while Nikolas stood by the window and waited
for any sign
of Liz anbd Lucky. Nikolas had been a big help with the party and
Emily
couldn't help but think that all of the time that they had been
spending
together was starting to have an effect on him. She often
caught him staring
at her, and when she'd look at him, he'd quickly look away. She
was convinced
it wasn't her imagination.
"Quiet everybody! They're on their way up the
driveway!" yelled Nikolas as he
ran into the family room.
Everyone gathered together as Reginald went to answer the door.
"Hi Liz. Hi
Lucky," he said as he took their coats.
Lucky and Liz walked into the foyer, both wondering why it seemed
so quiet. No
sounds of chatter. No music.
"CONGRATULATIONS LUCKY AND LIZ!" screamed the crowd of
their family and
friends as they walke through the door and into the family room.
Lucky and Liz looked at each other and smiled. They couldn't
believe that all
these people were actually there for them. Emily ran up to them
and hugged
them both.
"Surprised?" She asked as she jumped up and down.
"Yeah," They both responded, taken aback by everything
that was happening.
Nikolas came over and slapped Lucky on the back.
"And you knew about this too?" Lucky asked grinning.
"Yep....GOTTCHA little brother."
Suddenly the door bell rang.
"I wonder who that could be. I thought everybody was here
already," said Emily
as she began workign towards the door.
"Ah, ah, ah, " said Liz as she grabbed her friend's
arm. "You've done enough
work today...I'll get it."
Liz strode to the door and opened it. Shock registered in her
eyes.
"Sarah!"
