Certified Child & Adolescent Psychiatrist. She completed her
residency and fellowship at the North Shore LIJ Medical Center (now
known as Northwell Health) where she served as Chief Resident. She
received her medical education through the State University of New York
Dr. Summerville has private practice office locations in Bayside and Hauppauge. In addition, she has provided services to Emotionally Disturbed and Blind children through The New York Institute For Special Education and she provides psychiatric services in community-based clinics throughout Nassau and Suffolk counties. Through these various settings, she has gained experience not only with treating psychiatric illness in children and adolescents but also has experience working within the school systems, providing school consults, as well as interfacing with the CSE and support service professionals that help children obtain all of the educational, emotional and physical services they need to thrive.
She has experience in individual and family therapy with a special emphasis in Psychodynamic Psychotherapy, CBT and Play Therapy and has much experience in providing medication management when needed, while utilizing the safest monitoring practices available. She believes that every child or individual is part of a family system and she is aware that therapeutic interventions often involve more than just medication. She has 14 years experience treating illnesses such as ADHD, Obsessive Compulsive Disorder, Depression, Anxiety, Panic Disorder, Behavior Problems, Oppositional Defiant Disorder, Mood Disorders, Psychosis, Tic Disorders, Tourette's Syndrome, Trauma, Children of Divorce, Marital Problems, Family Dysfunction and simply reducing individual and family stress. She chooses not to define individuals by their illness but treats their symptoms so they can function to their fullest potential and be the best person that they can be.
