Nick Holland

Guernsey Number: 2

Nick Holland Hawthorn Hawks Had a terrible start to the 1999 season when form and confidence seemed to desert him, but fought his way back from round 10 onwards. Needs to work hard to get the best out of himself and certainly showed he had the strength of character to overcome his form slump. Regarded as one of the better centre half-forwards in the game, running hard and wide to present himself. Is a great mark (he took the fourth most marks in the AFL in 1999) and an improving kick. Also showed last season the passion he has for the contest. Will be assisted by the emergence of Nathan Thompson, who can relieve some of the opposition pressure.

Player honors: 2nd best and fairest 1995 (equal); leading goalkicker 1997; Norwich Union AFL Rising Star 1995; pre-season premiership side 1999.

Brownlow Medal: 1999 votes (10); career votes (25).
