I ran to her. "Ohmigosh, Sam are you okay?". Good thing she fell on the empty boxes, or she would have broken something for sure.
I heard the door slam open and somebody making their way over to us.
I looked up and saw Kevin looking down at her worriedly.
"What happened?" he asked.
"She fell"
Sam sat up and rubbed her shoulder, "I'm fine, don't worry. It's not everyday I almost get scared to death." she said pointedly to Kevin.
"Well I wasn't the one peeking into other people's windows. I'm surprised you're not dressed in black and wearing night vision goggles."
"Oh, haha," she said sarcastically.
"Here lemme help you up" he offered her his hand.
"No thanks" She stood up slowly and evened out her shirt.
We saw AJ leave the bus and heading for the club.
"Damn, I missed him" Sam said, "Hey maybe I could still catch up with him. Be right back..." She ran after AJ calling out his name.
"You're Nick's friend right?" Kevin asked me.
I nodded and extended my hand, which he shook, "Yeah, I'm Cathy. You have to excuse my sister. She has really awful manners. And this is our first time snooping on other people, I swear."
"What's her name?" he asked curiously.
"Samantha"
"Hmm, Samantha, I like the sound of that"
The next night, I met Nick backstage, in his room.
"Hey there," he greeted me and let me in.
"Hi, Nick," I said excitedly," Guess what? I have a present for you". I handed him a box.
He opened it eagerly and peeked inside. "Ummm..overalls....I don't know what to say...," he stuttered.
"Put it on," I urged him.
He looked at my beaming face and agreed hesistantly. He left and changed in the adjoining room.
"Perfect," I said when I saw the outfit on him.
"No offense, but don't you think I look like a maintenance dude in this outfit?"
I laughed at his discomfort. "That's exactly what I wanted," I said. I placed my cap on his head. "Let's go", I said while I tugged at his arm.
"We're sneaking out?", he asked.
"Yeah," I answered," I know this is kinda dangerous, but don't worry I planned it out carefully. You just have to see the city before you guys leave again. "
I led him out, through the back exits. We got into the parking lot without any hitches. Unfortunately, I saw Brian as I was climbing into the car.
"Wait up!," Brian called out.
Nick groaned," We're busted".
"Hide," I told him. Nick shimmied into the backseat.
"Catherine, leaving so soon?", asked Brian, " Nick must be so disappointed. He was really looking forward to seeing you".
"Well, yeah. He's kinda tired so I decided to leave early. He left already for the hotel.", I lied.
"Oh, he did? He was supposed to give me a ride to the hotel. Oh well, I guess I'll just have to find AJ," he said. Thank goodness he didn't ask me for a ride.
Brian was about to walk away, when he turned to me again. "Wait a minute. Is that Nick's cologne I smell?"
I heard Nick squirm in the backseat.
"Oh yeah, umm...I got him a new one as a going-away present. I tried it out on the seat before I gave it to him," I giggled nervously.
Brian shook his head, like he thought I finally lost it. He walked away anyway.
Nick popped his head up from the backseat. " I thought he wasn't going to leave. I love Frick like a brother, but he has his moments".
Nick moved into the passenger seat and I drove out of the lot.
