 The second winner for "Fan of the Month" is a really devoted Mariah fan! It was hard to pick a fan this time because there were so many to choose from! Right when I saw her entry, it really caught my eye and I even immediately responded to her, just to tell her that she's a really cool person. Mariah fans all over the world say and do many interesting things to show their love for Mariah. It's fun reading all of the fan's stories, and this month's winner is right on top of that list for Biggest Mariah fan! Who is this girl? Her name is Lauren and she's from Gold Coast, Australia. Read on to find out more about this wonderful Mariah fan. Congratulations, Lauren!

Here is her winning entry (word for word). BTW, I know that there is a lot of reading on this page, but I advise you to read every word because her story is really interesting:
 "My mum was the first to introduce me to Mariah. That was in grade 4. I am now in grade 10, so I have been a huge Mariah fan for 7 years. I have all of her CD's and videos. My room is plastered in Mariah posters. I have a Mariah mug, a Mariah ballpoint pen, Mariah T-shirt, Mariah baseballcap, books, songbooks, and volumes of scrapbooks with articles and pictures I have found containing Mariah in Magazines or on the Internet. So, I have collected all the Mariah 'paraphernalia' I can get my hands on.
I guess I talk about Mariah a little too much (even though I don't understand that is possible) as my friends and family often tell me to be quiet or have a go at her, just to get my reaction. I suppose I get a little too fiesty at them as I know they are just joking, but I don't care I will defend her to the grave!
When Mariah came to Brisbane for her Butterfly tour I went to the hotel she was staying at and waited for her for 5 and a half hours - in the rain!. I know other fans have waited for her for like 2 days - but hey, if I had the chance I would. Though, I HAVE walked down a main street on the Gold Coast (which is where I live) holding out a huge foam rainbow that said "MARIAH RAINBOW" that I got from a CD shop - the reason being I was hoping someone would see it and go "Hey, I should go get that CD!" I have also made my friend get down on her knees with me and hail a giant poster of Mariah that was hanging in the front window of a CD shop in a busy shopping center. I also made my unwilling friends go see the 'Prince of Egypt' so I could hear Mariah sing in the credits - but I know they loved the movie. I also got up on the stage of my year 7 formal and yelled into the microphone, "MARIAH RULES!" I can't think of anything that I wouldn't do to get to meet Mariah or do for Mariah. I honestly think I am Mariah's biggest, most loyal fan. *MARIAH RULES!!!* (But, hey, you knew that).

Lauren's Story:
 Hi! My name is Lauren Hunter, I'm 15 and from Gold Coast, Australia. I first became a Mariah fan in 1994. I was 10. My mum introduced me to her music and we both loved her immediately. Well, now it's the year 2000 and I am still a HUGE Mariah fan and am extremely excited to be recognized as one. My friends and family say I'm obsessed with Mariah and her music. Even some of my teachers can't believe my obsession - could this have something to do with the fact that assignment given on own choice topics always end up featuring Mariah?
 My collection of Mariah "paraphernalia" includes: CD's, videos, biographies, baseball caps, mugs and a ballpoint pen (all of which I can't bring myself to use), T-shirt, and a volume of scrapbooks (well I'm on my fourth). All of these things take pride of place in my Mariah - poster - plastered room. I am also an official Mariah Carey Club member. My family and I also celebrate Mariah's birthday every year.
 Mariah has only toured to Australia once, so I have only been to one of her concerts - but hey, it was the best day of my life! Before the concert, I waited outside her Hotel for five and a half hours - some of that time in the rain. When she finally came down to her limo, I don't know, something possessed me! I couldn't even move! She was like 4 meters in front of me and I just couldn't move! Then she said, "Sorry guys, I'm late for a show" (the concert I was going to), got into her limo and drove away. At this point something else had come over me and I was bawling my eyes out. I still haven't forgiven myself for not taking those few steps to get a hug! I don't blame Mariah for rushing off though, because she only had a couple of hours to get ready for the show.
 I have assured that my family have hung two framed photos of Mariah during her concert along with the tickets in our TV Room. Sometimes the odd visitor will ask if I know her - I WISH!!! Also, watching Mariah at the concert, I was amazed. As she is the only person I know who can eat Vegemite straight! Well, anyway I guess my life consists mainly of endless debates over who is better - Mariah or some other tryhard, (especially with certain Aunts whom I know will be reading this!), convincing people to look beyond the short skirts and big hair and see all the good Mariah does fo so many less fortunate people and just basically making people never want to hear the word "Mariah" again! Oh well, Mariah is my idol, so I don't really care what others think about her because I know what she is really like - which is fabulous - and I will stand by her all the way, and they "Can't Take That Away From Me"!!!
