Minutes before the fall.
Future Max and Future Liz are in the granilith chamber. Max prepares to travel back in time using the granilith's power. He doesn't want to leave Future Liz tells him he has to or everyone will die. Future Max activates the granilith by inserting a crystal into the base. Future Max appears inside the granilith. He reaches his hand towards Future Liz and she does the same. Future Max is sucked into the top of the granilith. Future Liz is knocked to the ground.
Hondo, New Mexico
The Present
In present day Roswell, Maria is driving Liz and Alex to Madame Vivian's place. They all talk about their relationships. They pull up to Madame Vivian's. Inside the psychic's house, Alex is the first to talk to Madame Vivian. She tells him he and Isabel are good friends thats all. Maria's turn. She asks about Michael. Vivian tells her that they have 48 hours, tops. Liz's turn. She asks about Max. Liz explains that Max has this whole other destiny that doesn't include her. She says he choses love. And she will marry her true love and have happiness.
We see Liz back in her room pretending she's wearing a wedding vale. Suddenly there is the crack of thunder and Future Max lands outside Liz's window. He walks to the window and crouches so Liz can see his face.
Opening Credits
Back in Liz's room she's scared and confused. She doesn't believe a word he says. She says there's no such thing as time travel and tells him he's a shape shifter. He tells her if he were a shapeshifter, there's no way he could tell the future. And that in approximately 10 seconds, he will show up outside her window and begin singing to her accompanied by a mariachi band.
There is a faint music that starts getting louder. She climbs outside and looks down at Max and his mariachi buddies singing to her in Spanish. She talks to Future Max while watching Max sing to her. Max throws up a bouquet of red roses to Liz. He changes them from red to white as they are in the air. Liz catches them. They continue talking. Jeff Parker knocks on the door and enters Liz's room to find out what all the noise is about. Future Max hides. Mr. Parker looks down and sees Max and his mariachi band singing and start to walk away.
At the Crashdown, Maria tells Michael about Madame Vivian's prediction. Courtney enters and flirtatiously asks "Mikey G" about her order Courtney slaps "Mikey G" on the butt, then leaves. Maria asks whats going on with her. He says he doesn't trust her and there's something up with her.
Future Max is in Liz's room looking at some pictures of her and Max. Liz walks in and tells him she has some questions. He explains why he can't go to Max directly and that what's about to happen over the next few days is critical to the history of this planet. Things between them are about to grow deeper and they become inseparable until the end of the world. He explains how Tess leaves Roswell and that without her everything falls apart. He tells her that he needs her help to get him and Tess together. Also to make him fall out of love with him.
Max gives Courtney a ride back to her place on his motorcycle. She flirtatiously invites him in. At first he says no then she kisses him and they go inside.
Switch to Kyle's room in the Valenti household. Tess takes off a poster on the wall and starts using her power to paint part of the wall. Kyle walks in and yells at her. She talks about Max. She calms down. Kyle hits on her. He tells her in order to trim the lamp of wisdom, we must attend to our bodily needs. She gets up they almost kiss but the doorbell rings. Kyle goes to answer it. It's Liz. She's wants to talk to Tess. Thay talk about Max. Liz mentions getting max and Tess together. Tess is stubborn about taking Liz's help.
Back to Courtney's place. Courtney is giving Michael a massage. he questions her. He tells her to shower and he's a germ-a-phobe. She falls for it. Courtney steps into the bathroom to take a shower. Michael starts snooping around. He opens a cabinet and finds it completely filled with skin lotion. Suddenly, he hears a knock from the door. It's Maria. She tells himabout the picture she found in Courtney's locker. Courtney tells him to put on some music. Then says he's an amazing kisser. Maria thwaps Michael on the head. Courtney comes out of the bathroom dressed in a towel. Maria hands Courtney the clip she left at work. maria is devostated she tells Michale it's over and she leaves. A moment later Michael leaves too.
Switch to Future Max and Liz who are staking out Tess from Whitaker's office. Max is supposed to meet her shortly. Liz is giving Tess instructions on what to say and how to act. Max arrives promptly and sits down at Tess' table. They talk. So do Future Max and Liz. Liz asks if they got married. He tells her they eloped at 19 in the Elvis Chapel in Vegas. he says it was great wedding. And that Maria, Michael, Isabel, and Alex,met them halfway. And they spent the whole night singing and dancing in some dive outside Phoenix, and at the end of the night, "I Shall Believe" came on the radio. And they danced to it and ever since then, it's been their song. Liz realizes if this works she won't have that day.
Switch to Max and Tess' conversation. Tess mentions Liz not being interested. Max suspiciously looks around and sees someone peeking from Congresswoman Whitaker's office. Max walks over to Congresswoman Whitaker's office. Future Max makes a quick exit into Congresswoman Whitaker's room. Max storms in he questions the setup Max grabs Liz and gives her a long, passionate kiss. She has a Flash. Her Tess can never be her. He invites he to see Gomes in Santa Fe on Friday. She says no.
In Liz's room, Future Max and Liz discuss what happened with Max. He tells her the night of Gomez he came to her room and they made love. She doesn't believe him. He tells her they have to change that before it's too late.
Alex is looking for Maria at the Crashdown and finds her in the back, ripping apart photos of Michael. Maria is sobbing. She tells him everything. he gives her a comforting hug.
Switch to Max's room at home. He is doing some pull-ups. There is a knock on his window. It's Liz. She climbs in his window. She asks him to put a shirt on. He does. She tells him not to say anything beacuse she has this whole speech. She mentions Romeo and Juliet and how her being with him puts he life in danger. She tells him that she may love him but she doesn't want to die for him. tears form in his sexy brown eyes.
Max immediately goes to Maria for advice. She tells him to give Liz up. Back outside Liz's room, Liz is sobbing. Future Max reaches his hand for a tissue and it goes through the box. Switch back to Max and Maria at the Crashdown. Max is in a daze. he tells her he loves Liz. Future Max is silent for a moment, then attempts to grab the box again. This time, his hand doesn't go through it. he tells her she has to do something else. He tells her 25 minutes before he came here, he held Michael in his arms... dead. Isabel died 2 weeks before that. And she has to do something about it.
Later, at the Crashdown, Maria spies Liz glumly gazing from the back room into the main Crashdown area. Liz mentions Michael and Courtney they hug. Maria mentions the look of guilt on his face and how awful it made her feel. She says there's nothing he could do to make up for it. She know's it's over. Liz listens to Maria's words and she realizes she may have found a way to get Max to stop loving her. She goes to Kyle for help
Kyle and Liz are in Liz's room. Kyle is undressing in Liz's room, while Liz is undressing in her bathroom with Future Max. Liz is trying to set things up so that Max will come by and see her and Kyle together in bed. Kyle mentions Buddha. Future max says this isn't a good plan because he could never be jealous of Kyle. She asks him to turn around and she undresses. Liz walks out in a towel. Kyle mentions the Y pool last summer and the towel. She goes over the rules again then the both hop into bed. Liz removes the towel.
At Michael's he's watching the game Alex stops by. He grabs the remote and turns off the TV. he starts yelling at him about Maria. Michael says it's a misunderstanding and there's nothing going on with him and Courtney. Courtney happens to stop by at that moment. Alex turns around and nails Michael in the face. Alex immediately starts wincing. He leaves. Courtney rushes over to Michael she helps him up. They start making out. Michael reaches around to her back and peels off a piece of skin. Michael fires his alien power at Courtney, who makes a quick escape out the window.
Back to Liz's room, where Liz and Kyle are lying next to each other in her bed. He asks why she's doing this. She tells him nothing. he changes the subject and says that they have something in common. They're the only two people he knows of who have died and were brought back by an alien. She asks him if he saw images when Max healed him. He tells her jokingly that since Max healed him, He keeps getting these flashes of Max Evans naked. Liz laughs. Max shows up with the Gomez tickets in hand, just like Future Max had predicted. He sees Liz and Kyle in bed together and is stunned. He drops the tickets and leaves. Switch to Max who is glumly sitting by himself on a bench. Tess walks by and asks how he is doing. She sits down.
Switch to Liz and Future Max outside Liz's room. He tells her he's fought a thousand battles but watching her do that was the hardest thing he's ever had to do. She mentions the look on his face. Future Max tells her it's for the best then mentions Kyle. She tells him he's the love of her life and everyone else is gonna be second best. There'll never be another Max Evans.
Switch back to Tess and Max sitting on the bench. She asks if he wants to talk about it, he says no. She asks if he wants her to leave, he says no.
Switch back to Future Max and Liz. She asks it Max and Tess are going to be together now. He doesn't know. He tells he from now on the future is to be determined and we create our own destiny. Liz asks Future Max to dance. "I Shall Believe" starts playing. Liz dances with Future Max.
Back in the Park. Tess touched max's shoulder. Max looks into her eyes.
Future Max twirls Liz and she spins around by herself. When she stops spinning, she realizes that Future Max has disappeared. The episode ends with her looking upward at the night sky and seeing a shooting star.
