May 27, 2000 Lewis Trial Summary I have watched every second of testimony available (yeah, I need some new hobbies) and have found that this trial has said much already. To say that it was a bad week for the prosecution is to say that I would give the O.J. Simpson/Lorena Bobbitt Dating Service a bad reference. Despite promises of "quick" and "conclusive" evidence of Ray Lewis' guilt from the DA in his opening statement, there has been none. The only witness to implicate Ray in any physical wrongdoing happens to be a gentleman currently in jail on identification-fraud charges. Talk about bad luck! What could be worse? (Why couldn't it have been jaywalking...or tax-evasion) The DNA/physical evidence is yet to come. I hope for the prosecution's sake, that they have put much more thought and planning into this phase of the trial. This leads me to my questions and I sincerely would appreciate thoughts. I have heard much about this "cut on Ray's hand". Is this a big deal? Wouldn't his fingerprints on a knife's handle be much more incriminating? Doesn't a cut imply that he was stabbed? (that's not a crime) Could it imply that he was holding a knife backwards, thus nullifying it's killing power? I just don't see how this "cut" could do anything but exhonorate him further. |
