Celebrating Ray Lewis' return

All-Pro linebacker is key to Raven's success

Folks, if any part of this offends anyone, tough...you'll get over it.

I have sat back and read whine upon whine on message boards, articles from mealy-mouthed sportswriters and numerous self-serving, emotion-based misrepresentations regarding the Lewis case.

Now hear this:

> We can absolutely celebrate the exonoration of a man wrongfully and unfairly accused of a felony. Our justice system works...thank God!

> We can absolutely celebrate the return of the heart and soul of our defense. We're diehard Ravens fans, why in the hell wouldn't we?

> We can absolutely celebrate the optimism that Ray's availability brings to our team.

But what about the poor victims?

What about them? The anger expressed towards Mr. Lewis, the NFL and the Ravens needs to be redirected to where it belongs: The Atlanta DA's office. Where is the outrage for trivializing the deaths of two people to the point where the DA's office had the single-minded goal of lynching Ray Lewis? Anyone who watched the trial could see that there are more suspects out there. Even to this date, they have not been arrested. What about Mr. Burros, who freely fired 7 gunshots on a public street? Not only has this man not been arrested, but according to Paul Howard, he is a hero for stopping the limo.

Justice? Suspend Ray Lewis from the NFL??? WAKE UP!!! There are known criminals walking about and no one is whining about that. The only person who has been legally punished from this situation is Ray Lewis, yet he is the one who is being so vigorously complained about.

Sportswriters: Noble men and women that you are. You want to clean up the NFL? You say that there is no room for a "liar"? How about our streets? Should they be clean from violent criminals? If so, write to Paul Howard.

But athletes are supposed to be role models...

Says who? Athletes are gifted physically. How does that translate into being any sort of moral beacon? Stop passing the buck, if you are counting on Ray Lewis or any other athlete to be the "moral" role model for yourself or your kids, YOU are the one who may need help.
