In the still of the night
after you leave and I'm alone to think...
my mind wanders to far away places
and what if's...
there was a time we were so happy...
do you feel the same?
I have started to wonder...
was it all just a game...
You make me light up...
each time you are near...
but doubts come...and then the fear.
Have things happened to change
your mind about me?
Did I push to hard...
do you want to be free?
In the still of the night...
a tear drifts down my cheek...
I want to ask...but am afraid to speak...
It never use to be that way...
but now I don't know what to say...
if I ask and you say it's true...
I'm not so sure what I will do...
Of course I'll let you have your way...
There's not a way to make you stay...
except to love you the way I do...but...
In the still of the night...
I feel that's why you are pulling away..
because I have shown you how I care...
and it's not the same...for you to share.
So I will drift the endless night...
wondering...how I can make it right...
Letting go...is hard to do..
but I will my sweets for you...
just know I'm here when you need me
and know I care in so many ways...
I love our nights ...I love our days...
Let it go and if its's meant to be...
you will find your way back to me...
Kissing your brow...watching you go...

look to the heavens above...
find the star that shines so bright...
and know she is watching you tonight...
burning bright for all to see...
the love she gave so free...
And know that the love shes gives is for you

One lonely tear rolls down my cheek...
The words won't come...it's hard to speak...
Then a second escapes from the other side...
No place to run...no place to hide...
Before to long they will dry...
salty water running from my eyes...
No words were said...just a glance was given...
makes me wonder...why am I living...
He comes for a minute...then departs...
and with him goes my broken heart...
Nothing more if felt...nothing more to say...
The nights were magic...the days were too...
but that was before...now it's through...
He goes his own way with a laugh and a smile...
No more kisses...no more touches...
They last just a while...
Always the same...I'm alone again...
Left with just this sad refrain...
The tenderness we once shared...
The love I felt when I knew he cared...
Has disappeared and been replaced with tears...
a broken heart and all those fears...
He held me once with loving arms...
Then poof it's gone...filled with second thoughts he had...
and I'm left alone...crying and sad...
