Latest:

  • 11/07/00: Reid no longer a Sting! - She has been traded to her hometown Miami Sol.

  • 09/15/00: Tracy talks Soaps - Last season it was music, this time it is soap operas. She is pretty funny though.

  • 06/25/00: The Sting lose a close one, 69-68 to Orlando. Reid got significant minutes (27) and scored a season high 13 points on 6-9 shooting and grabbed four rebounds. But with the Sting up one with 28 seconds to go, she missed two free throws. Another Ouch.

  • 06/23/00: The good and bad? Tracy Reid played some good basketball with season highs of 11 points and six rebounds but the Sting got obliterated by Phoenix, 90-57. Winless at home and 2-9 - ouch. Coach Dunn needs to figure out what is wrong, soon.

Tracy is averaging 7 points and almost 3 rebounds a game but her time is increasing and her averages will too!

  • 06/20/00: Tracy Reid's situation has gotten dire. Reid status a mystery as she misses 2 games talks about trade rumors and more. The Sting franchise would really be thinking short-term trading her. Although injured, her youth and athleticism will really benefit Charlotte in the future.

  • 06/11/00: Reid's thigh is acting up and she just isn't in the form to play right now. The Sting are off to the worst start in the league and look lost.

  • 06/02/00: Sting are off to a horrible start and Reid is struggling.

  • 05/13/00:The Gaston Gazette has a good story, " Reid wants return to her rookie form" about Tracy's hopes for this year and frustrations with last season. The Sting's 2000 season starts Saturday night!

  • 02/28/2000: It was wonderful to see Tracy get her jersey retired and the Heels upset Duke! She even posted for some photos. While she was on crutches and her leg still swollen, she told us she will be well very soon and is really looking forward to playing. When I told her about the site, she gave me a hug!

  • 02/24/2000: At the women's UNC-Duke final regular season game at Carmichael on Sunday at 12:30, Tracy Reid's jersey will be retired along with Sylvia Crawley and Marion Jones. Stay tuned for photos!

  • 02/07/2000: Tracy, back in Charlotte now, has surgery to remove a small cyst from her right ankle. She'll be on crutches for six weeks but should be ready for the start of the season. UGH, get well soon!

  • 01/22/2000: June 1, baby! Sting at Orlando. The Sting announced their 2000 schedule and the home opener is June 3rd against the Miami Sol.

Sadly, only two games on national TV and the Sting announce a trade of Vicky Bullett for Shalonda Enis of the Mystics.

  • 01/10/2000: The Sting lose Manning and McCarty in the expansion draft.

  • 11/30/1999: Fellow Heel and Sting guard Charlotte Smith is having a great year in Italy. She was named to the Italian All-Star game and scored 16 points. Sharon Manning in also playing in Italy.

  • 11/11/1999: Dunn's first big decisions will be who to protect in the Dec. 15th expansion draft. The Sting can protect 5 players. My five: Stinson, Staley, Reid, Bullett or Mapp and maybe Stephanie McCarty-White. Bullett would be a shoe-in but she is 32 and the knees can go on post players as the years creep up. And I know folks think I'm nuts for being so high on Steph but I think every team needs a gritty player who'll sacrifice their body, take the charge, dive for the ball and nail a three. And, she is a winner.

  • 11/02/1999:Well, the Sting is Dunn. Assistant coach T.R. Dunn is the new head coach. He was brought staff by Hughes when Hughes was promoted. Dunn was in Charlotte before with the Hornets as an assistant and played 14 years in the NBA for the Portland Trail Blazers, Denver Nuggets and Phoenix Suns.

Tracy is finishing up her degree at UNC. Hopefully, I'll be able to get an update soon!

  • 10/19/1999:Interim Sting coach Dan Hughes has left to take the Cleveland job after negotiations broke down. Oh well. Let's hope whoever they get to replace him favors a fast pace offense with a pressure d.

  • 10/04/1999:Good news! The AP reports there is a long term on the table to keep the Sting in Charlotte! Hooray!

  • 10/01/1999:Just a generic WNBA note. Former Ind. Senator Birch Bayh bought the tickets to put the new Indiana expansion franchise over the top for 5,500 tickets. The 5,500 level means they are officially a franchise for 2000. If you don't recognize the name, Bayh is the gentleman who wrote the Title IX legislation.

  • 8/29/1999:The Liberty just seemed to have it all together. It was a great effort by all and good to see Tracy in the game. Oh well, Houston will crush New York anyway.

The worst of this is having to wait until May, 8 months until we can see Tracy, happy and healthy on the court. Or maybe the worst was the look on Tracy's face with about 5 minutes to go- a single tear trailing down her face. I broke my heart!

  • 8/29/1999:Tough loss but what a courageous fight! It was heated and rough but the Sting couldn't pull it out, 74-70. Charlotte was down 13 at one point and Stinson and so many folks turned it up. Charlotte Smith played really well- doing a lot of little things and I was excited to see Tracy actually drive and spin some. 8pm Monday for the trip to the finals, ESPN. Ackerman can't move the team if they go to the finals!!!!

  • 8/27/1999: Game 1, STING win 78-67...huge effort for the whole squad! Tracy gets in the game and scores! 11,000 at the game, good but not great!

  • 8/24/1999:ALL RIGHT! Now that is the Sting we know and love! Stinson simply wanted it more. A 11-2 surge around the 7-4 minute mark gave the Sting a lead the Rockers couldn't overcome! 60-54 Sting! They'll head home for Friday's game 1 and then to NYC for games 2 & 3. Maybe Tracy, who was dressed and ready but didn't play, will get some court time.
