Well, the Gamecock soccer season is quickly approaching and we're looking
to find as many people as possible to help support both our men and women as they kick off 2002.
Once again we would like to mention that there might be a slim possibility of tailgating or just
getting together before matches. If you're interested e-mail us and let us know you'll be there!
We've got a lot of exciting projects that we'll be undertaking in the coming weeks and months.
The first of these is working on compiling an e-mail list for those who would like to receive periodic
updates on developments in our pursuit of a PDL/USL team. If you're interested in signing up for this
list just drop us a line!
Another project we'd like to undertake is getting area soccer fans more involved with
the state's existing pro soccer teams. To that end we'd like to invite anyone and everyone
to come along on possible road trips to Greenville, Charleston, Charlotte, and maybe
even Atlanta. If you plan on making a trip to any of these places let us know so we can put you in touch with fellow travelling
Columbians!
Another project we're working on involves getting Columbia fans involved with some
of the fan groups for some of our big league brethren. For example, in Charleston they have
a group called
the Regiment and in Charlotte they have a group called the
Orange Crusade. We'd like to openly
encourage fans to get involved with these established groups. We'd also like to ask anyone
who would be interested to contact us about starting our own supporter's club for our future
Columbia team!
What else goes better with joining a fan club besides all the free stuff? Well, since we don't exactly have deep pockets
we'll be looking at creating stickers and other merchandise to fund our projects. We're also looking for people to get involved in running
the fan club with us and helping us to come up with the perks of being in the fan club. One consideration
would include a free ticket to the pro team of your choice with each membership. Of course, we're open to any and all ideas!
In the end we want this to be nothing but the utmost of fun and we want to share it with all
the soccer fans of the Midlands. So if you're up for it, I know we are! One other thing, if you make a
trip to a game somewhere, anywhere, whether it's the local high school or an MLS trip let us know
and we'll be glad to put your name up in lights on our site! We'll bring you our commentary from around the
state as the soccer season unfolds. Don't forget to check back as this page will most definitely change with pictures
and hopefully some more interactive things for all you fans.
