Senior Coach’s News - April 2001

The pre-season kicked off with two away games - one in the Waikato which resulted in our 17 guys playing two Lemmington teams and coming away with a 26-21 win - not a bad effort!! It was good to see so many of the wives/partners and children coming along for the ride - thanks for the support.

Our second pre-season game saw us head overseas to Waiheke Island - again wives/partners and LOTS of kids came along and a great day was had by all. It was a Wild Waiheke Island rugby game and a fantastic trip home on the ferry and bus.

This leads up to our first competition game played on 24th March, vs Pukekohe. The end result is that our guys now know what is ahead of them. This game was played with a huge commitment from our forward pack who showed that it did not matter what size the opposition are, they can still be knocked over. Both teams scored a try each but in the end the kicks made the difference. Our boys can front up to Rewa in the next game and be confident in the knowledge that THEY CAN foot it with "the big boys". I'll just take this opportunity to welcome all of the players who fronted for the first time for Karaka - here's to a great season!!!

Cheers,

Parky
