Four players scored in double figures as Antelope Valley (2-1) outlasted a stubborn Mt. San Antonio (1-2) squad in the consolation final of the We Play Hard Tip-Off Sunday afternoon at Ventura College.
PG Rod Singleton had 14 pts and made the all-tournament team, and PF Kyisean Reed came off the bench with a huge effort, posting 16 pts and 8 rebs replacing injured starter Aaron Henson in the Marauder lineup.
AVC held a 38-36 lead and never trailed in the second half, though the Marauders didn't secure the win until a driving lay-up by Singleton with 12.8 seconds left made it 74-70. AVC had led by as much as 10 points in the second half but were never able to pull away.
The one negative for AVC was the loss of Henson, who suffered an apparent knee injury in the game's first minute and did not return.
Ctr Jerome Moton had 12 pts and SF Raymond Cody added 10 pts and 4 asts for Antelope Valley.
PF Aaron (A.J.) Chamberlain led all scorers with 20 pts for Mt. SAC, and he also grabbed 6 rebs. SG Versia Hodges had 17 pts and PG Eric Ellis had 12 pts, 5 asts and 5 steals. PF Deilonzo Board came off the bench to post a double-double for the Mounties with 14 pts and 10 rebs.
