One of the better JC basketball programs in the LA area is the Glendale Vaqueros. Coach Brian Beauchemin puts together a competitive team year in and year out, and the Vaqueros are always in the hunt for the WSC-South crown.
I have to admit a little prejudice here - I used to live in Glendale and absolutely loved the place. That was over 10 years ago but I still enjoy going there whenever I get the chance.
And if you're looking for a place to eat nearby, I recommend La Fuente on Colorado Blvd. in Eagle Rock. Just take Colorado east out of Glendale towards Pasadena, and look for a strip mall on the right (south) side. If you get to Eagle Rock Blvd., you've gone too far. The machaca tacos and chile relleno burritos are particularly awesome.
