PF Kyle Huggett scored 25 pts and grabbed 10 rebs to lead #3 Delta (12-1) to a 74-59 win over San Francisco (7-6) in the championship game of the Delta Holiday Tournament as the Mustangs won their tourney for the first time since 1996. Huggett was named Tourney MVP, and was joined on the All-Tournament team by teammates PG Chris Walker and Ctr Kevin Hasenfus.
Delta jumped out to an 11-1 lead as CCSF missed its first 5 shots from the field and led the rest of the way. The Rams rallied to cut the margin to 8 several times in the second half, but that was as close as it would get.
Walker had a marvelous all-around game, finishing with 12 pts, 8 rebs, 7 asts and 3 steals for Delta. Hasenfus added 14 pts and SG Sam Kirby added 14. PG Ajay Riding had a strong game off the bench with 3 pts and 5 asts.
For CCSF, SF Ike Count scored 14 pts and was named to the All-Tournament team. PG Eric Turner came off the bench to add 14 pts, 9 rebs and 4 asts. PF Harry Brown added 10 pts, including CCSF’s first 8 pts of the second half, and 6 boards.
