Mt. San Jacinto 90, Antelope Valley 85

PF Clarence Womak came off the bench to score 15 pts and grab 10 rebs, garnering tourney MVP honors as he led #10 Mt. San Jacinto (8-2) past host #13 Antelope Valley (5-4) in the Final of the McDonald's Tourney at AVC.

Womak filled in for the suspended Waki Williams to team with SF Tihon Johnson in an alternate "Columbus Connection" for Mt. San Jacinto. Johnson finished with a game-high 28 pts. Womak, Johnson and Willliams all hail from East HS in Columbus OH.

AVC led 81-80 with just under 2 minutes left when Mt. San J started their rally. First, Johnson stole the ball from AVC's Jonathan Holland and fed Ctr Anthony Murphy for a layup. Moments later, AVC star SF Wendell White lost control of his dribble and fouled out trying to retrieve the loose ball, and Johnson hit the resulting FTs to extend the lead to 84-81. After a FT by AVC PG Mike Webb cut the lead to 84-82, Mt. San J SG Taleek Norman made 1 of 2 FTs to restore a 3-point margin. Johnson added a pair of FTs with 34.7 secs left to make it 87-83, which put the Eagles in control.

Murphy finished with 4 pts and 5 rebs, but also helped hold AVC's Holland to just 11 pts and 4 rebs, earning him a spot on the All-Tourney team along with Womak and Johnson. PF Shaun Buckingham had a strong game as well for Mt. San Jacinto with 18 pts and 6 rebs. PG Martise Coleman had 9 pts, 8 asts and just 1 turnover.

For AVC, Wendell White scored 26 pts despite missing most of the second half with foul trouble. He picked up his 4th foul with 14:09 left, and sat out for about the next 10 minutes. Then he fouled out with 1:29 to play. PG Webb had 21 pts, while PF Walter White added 11 pts and 12 rebs for the Marauders. Wendell White, Webb and Holland were named to the All-Tourney team, while Walter White was given the Inspirational Player Award.
