Jeremiah Massey led the way as usual for #10 Oxnard (14-3) as they knocked off #4 Antelope Valley (15-3) in the first game of the COC Tourney.
Massey had 22 pts, 7 rebs and 5 asts for the Condors. But the Oxnard supporting cast was strong as well. SG Erik Webb posted a double-double with 19 pts and 10 reb plus 4 asts, and PF Kerwin Forges scored 14 pts and grabbed 6 boards before fouling out with 4:25 to play.
AVC trailed most of the way, and 24 turnovers really hurt their cause. Still, they pulled within a basket at 70-68 in the final minutes. But they were unable to score, and 5 FTs (2 each by Webb and PG Thomas Caveness, and 1 by SF Paul Guerrero) in the final minute sealed the win for Oxnard.
AVC was led by SF Sidney Melvin, who scored 20 pts (including 4 threes) and grabbed 6 rebs. PG Mike Webb had 10 pts and 8 asts for the Marauders. Reserve G Gabe Stevenson had a big game off the bench for AVC with 10 pts and 5 asts.
