Diablo Valley ran its record to 16-0 with a dominant performance over host San Joaquin Delta in the Championship of the Delta Holiday Tournament, winning 86-61 and a strong bid for the #1 ranking in the state.
DVC's dyanmic duo of guards Franco Harris and Tyree Gardner combined for 46 pts including 11 threes to lead the way for the Vikings. Harris, who finished with 18 pts and 5 asts, was named the Tourney MVP. Gardner was Sunday's standout with 28 pts (8 threes) plus 4 asts. Third guard Shamar Armstrong dished out 10 asts and added 13 pts for the winners. PF Mo Charlo also had 13 pts and joined Harris and Gardner on the all-tourney team.
For the game, Diablo Valley finished with just 6 turnovers while knocking down 13 three-point FGs.
Delta (9-6) was led by PF Kenny Renfro, who finished with 18 pts and 6 rebs. Ctr Kavin Young added 12 pts and 5 rebs, and was named to the all-tourney team.
