Cerritos 57, El Camino 49

In a defensive battle, Cerritos got a double-double from SG DaJuan Wilson and strong performances from PG Geovanny Aispuro and reserve F Antoine Smith to outlast El Camino, 57-49, at Torrance.

Wilson led the Falcons with 13 pts and added 10 rebs and 3 asts. His 4 FTs in the final 3 minutes, plus an assist on a key three by SG Curtis Williams, helped seal the win for Cerritos. Aispuro scored 11 pts on 4 of 6 from the floor. And Smith had a very active night, scoring 8 pts, grabbing 8 rebs, blocking 3 shots and recording 3 steals.

It was a game with a lot of missed shots, as Cerritos won despite shooting just 34% from the field. But the Falcons did make 15 of their 17 free throw attempts. El Camino shot a dismal 29% from the floor, and no individual Warrior shot better than 40% on the night.

El Camino led by as many as 8 late in the 1st half at 26-18, but Cerritos scored the last 7 pts of the half and the first 6 pts of the 2nd half to grab a 31-26 edge. Cerritos led by between 3 and 6 until PG John Clemmons hit a three to bring ECC to within a point at 48-47 with just under 4 mins left. On the next possession, he made a FT to tie the game at 48 with 3:21 to go. But he missed the next FT, and Wilson hit 2 FTs to restore Cerritos' lead at 50-48. SF Brian Pruitt was fouled and made 1 of 2 FTs to close the gap to 50-49, but then Williams' three made it 53-49 and El Camino didn't score again.

Pruitt led the way for El Camino with 17 pts, 7 rebs, 4 blocks and 3 steals. SF Will Dunn had a double-double with 10 pts and 10 rebs plus 2 blocks and 2 steals. Clemmons finished with 6 pts and 3 asts.

Halftime Score: El Camino 26, Cerritos 25

ECC led 26-18 late in 1st half. A 13-0 Cerritos run at the end of the 1st / beginning of 2nd half gave the Falcons the lead. ECC rallied to tie it at 48 on a 3 and a FT by Clemmons with 3:21 left, but the Warriors were never able to take the lead. Wilson hit 4-4 FTs down the stretch and fed Williams for a three. That, plus a basket by Smith, put it away for Cerritos.
