El Camino got standout performances from SG David Warsaw and PF Brian Pruitt to pull away from LA Valley and capture the Crown City Holiday Classic at Pasadena City College. Warsaw had 33 pts on 13 of 18 from the floor, while Pruitt had 22 pts on 7 of 12 including 18 pts in the 2nd half. Warsaw and Pruitt led a 16-3 ECC run early in the 2nd half that broke a 43-43 tie. El Camino wasn't threatened after that. PG John Clemmons had a game-high 11 assists and joined Warsaw on the all-tournament team. Pruitt was named tournament MVP.
Cold shooting doomed the Monarchs. They went a combined 9 of 40 in the 2nd half, including a combined 1 of 17 by their 2 leading scorers, SG Ryan Abrahams and SF Neverson White. White led the Monarchs with 17 pts on the night and was named to the all-tournament team. Abrahams finished with 12 pts, all in the 1st half, and a game-high 10 rebs. F Jordan Walker was about the only Monarch who could hit a shot in the 2nd half, making 4 of 5 after halftime and finishing the night with 11 pts and 6 rebs overall.
