Field with Two Hands
Sometimes what looks like the easiest play results in an infield base hit. Slow rollers often cause infielders problems, but if you charge the ball, pick it up quickly and get the throw off right away, you stand a good chance of throwing the runner out.
"Run quickly at slow rollers. Remember as the ball rolls slowly toward you, the baserunner is moving full steam ahead."

Skills Drills
|
More hand drill When practicing fielding slow rollers, use as much hand and as little glove as you can without hurting yourself. The line between using two hands and just your bare hand is a fine one. Save the bare hand for balls hit slowly enough that you can avoid hurting your hand and can easily field the play. When the ball is traveling more quickly, use your glove. |
