On March 7th, 2001, the town of Newington, CT paid special tribute to Alexei Yagudin and Canadian Ice Dancers Bourne & Kraatz. Not only did the Vice Mayor congratulate them on their Olympic efforts, but they were welcomed "home" as members of the community.
The congratulatory ceremony took place at the CT International Skating Center, which is where Alexei has been training for almost 2 years. Both before and after the ceremony, Alexei, Shae-Lynne & Victor were available for photo ops and autographs.
The AYWFF President was able to present a plaque to Alexei, which was engraved in gold, with the following -
