Playoff Potentials?
The year has just began, but people are already wondering who will make it to the playoffs. Only eight teams are accepted to the playoffs. Which eight teams will pull ahead of all the others and get into the Playoffs? So far their are only a few teams look like shoe-ins for the playoffs.
Toronto Blue Jays are one of those teams. The Blue Jays have really broke through in the month of May. They are now 26-12 and have a commanding 2 game lead over the second place Devil Rays. They look very strong, and might be able to take the A.L. East, leaving all the other teams behind.
The Team that has pulled ahead in the A.L. Central is the Detroit Tigers. They haven't been to great so far this season. Their current record is 21-17, only 1 game ahead of the Chicago White Sox. The Tigers will need to do a lot more over the course of this season if they want to keep the lead in the A.L. Central.
The A.L. West was very close at the beginning of May, but now on May 16th, the division is very easy to call. The Mariners have taken a 5.5 game lead over the Rangers. Seattle is now 25-14.
The WildCard team so far is still the Devil Rays. They have fallen behind a little, and have let the Red Sox catch up to them a little. The Red Sox are only .5 games behind them now.
The Braves have taken a small lead in the N.L. East, as they are 21-19. They are now 1.5 games ahead of the stunning New York Mets. The Braves will need to do a little better the rest of the year in order to stay ahead of the approaching Mets and Expos.
The N.L. Central has finally broken apart a little, as the Milwaukee Brewers have pulled in front of the Cincinnati Reds. Both teams have started to slip, but the Brewers were able to stay up a little longer than the Reds.
The Diamondbacks have soared ahead of the whole N.L. West. They are now 6 games ahead of the San Francisco Giants. On May 1st the division was all tied up, but now things have certainly changed.
The Cincinnati Reds are the team that looks in the lead of the WildCard Race. They have been slipping lately, but they are still 23-15, which is 3 games ahead of any other WildCard team.
