Australian Basketballer Michelle Brogan has spoken today about her decision to give up a career in the WNBA to stay in Australia with her baby son.
Recently divorced, the Opal’s silver medallist chose the custody of her 19-month-old son ahead of her place with the Phoenix Mercury.
The choice between family and career was not hard not when it comes to my son, so I have chosen to stay in Australia this season through personal circumstances” Brogan said.

The Australian Opals have finished their tour of Europe, recording a 92-86 overtime win over the French national team.

Jae Kingi (25 pts 15 ast) and Penny Taylor (21 pts 11 reb) posted double-double numbers for the Opals, with Suzy Batkovic (22 pts) also contributing to the scorecard.

The game was tied at 77-77 at the end of regulation time, but clutch free-throw shooting, including 12 free throws in a row by Kingi, helped the Australians hold on.

Opals coach Jan Stirling told the press she was very proud of her charges.

"We started well, but a combination of foul trouble and injuries made it a tough battle. The girls really dug in and produced a memorable victory."

The Opals won their last three games on their European tour, also recording 84-79 win over Lithuania and a 105-65 victory against Japan.
