Culturally Empowered:

The name of the Project is “Kinou, Kyou, And Ashita”, Japanese for Yesterday, Today, and Tomorrow.  This project was done in my Japanese class freshman year.  The due date is May 19, 2003.

                                                                                       Reflection on Project

This Japanese Project was made to test us if we knew our vocabulary and grammar.  There were three parts to the project.  You had to fold a sheet of paper in three long rectangles and label the first, second, and third yesterday, today, and tomorrow.  For each of the rectangles you are supposed to write what you did on those days which include the time, place, and what you did in Japanese.  The time frame for the assignment was 4 days max.  After you turned it in, you will have to present it to the class with everything you did on the project with all the communication requirements like posture, clarity, and voice.

I learned how to deal with nervousness when I’m presenting my poster.  What I liked about it was that it is a good practice to listen to people speak Japanese and to practice speaking it in front of a class.  What I didn’t like about the assignment was making up the sentences.  But overall the project was enjoyable.

This project represents the ESLR of a Culturally Empowered member because it deals with the community outside the United States.  The third part of the ESLR states that a student must, "Demonstrate knowledge of globule perspective and culture diversity.”  This project fills this requirement because I chose to take this class and understand its culture and doing this project is an update on my progress.  Putting my work into this project brings my participation to something I had a choice to do.
