Hypertext Links

Links within a Page

You can create hypertext links that take you from one part of a page to another.
This is particularly useful if you have a long page or a number of different sections in a page.

The process involves two steps:

  1. Create a named area in the page to link TO.

This is done by using the A tag with the NAME attribute.
By naming a part of the web page you can create links to that particular part.
  2. Create links to your named area using the A tag with the HREF attribute set equal to # followed by the name you have set.

In the code for this page you will see that a name ("TOP") has been set just before the list of excercises.

Links to another Page

You can create hypertext links that send the visitors to another page on your site.
This is done by using the anchor tag and the HREF attribute.
