Mitsubishi joined the performance-car
field with the Lancer Evolution, which draws on the company's rallye-racing
experience and success. A lightened RS edition that lacked such comforts as
air conditioning and a stereo became available in 2004. A more-powerful,
276-horsepower four-cylinder goes into 2005 models, and a new MR Edition is
available.
