I came to know about the existence of a meteor impact crater in India through the internet. Fortunately it was in my native state, Maharashtra. So reaching there with local help wouldn't have been a problem.

I had no idea of the route to get to Lonar, except only for the rough location. My father assisted me in this trip by accompanying me all the way to the crater and back! I caught Bangalore-Nanded Express train thinking of getting down at the last station and proceeding further. On the way I visited some very religious spots called Jyotirlingas. Because of this, my entire plan to Lonar had to be adjusted accordingly. I purchased a Maharashtra map and decided to plan the trip getting to the nearest station to Lonar and then proceeding further station-by-station similarly. This entire journey was carried out by bus.
