By David Becker, News.com Futuremark, the maker of 3DMark 03, releases a patch for the graphics benchmark designed to correct the way Nvidia drivers manipulate results in the popular test. Saratoga, California-based Futuremark on Friday said in a statement that Nvidia tweaked the software needed to run its new GeForce FX 5900 processor to distort performance in Futuremark's 3DMark 03 testing application. The company said drivers for the new Nvidia chip were altered to detect activity characteristic of a benchmark and adjust performance accordingly. more... Sports News 49ers Release Faulk, Mitchell The 49ers trimmed the roster Wednesday with the release of cornerback Stephen Faulk and safety Jackie Mitchell. Faulk was a two-way player for the Quakers. After spending his first three seasons in the secondary, Faulk was moved to the starting running back position as a senior. He led the team with 128 carries for 502 yards and an impressive 10 touchdowns. more...
