We have a six year old male Rottweiler that needs a home. He is dog # 3 of our pack and we just cannot handle him any longer. (We just got married & one of us had 2 dogs already.) He is very very sweet, yet totally protective. He has not been neutered yet, but if he needs to be, we could do that. We are in St. Louis and are trying to decide what to do. We have no family or friends that are interested in him because they already have pets, or do not want such a large dog. He is about 110 lbs and has beautiful markings. We do have his AKC papers and would love to see him go to a loving family that knows Rottweilers and their loving nature. Please let us know what you think and if we could find him a suitable home through you. We would never take him to a place where he could be put down, so if we can't find him a suitable family, we'll just have to live with him. I would rather he get the attention he deserves with a new family though. 3 dogs is just way too many for our small house. Thanks, Jodi & Bart O'Toole, St. Louis, MO

About 30 miles south of Saint Louis,
Mo. A male rottweiler showed up on my porch step about two weeks ago and I
haven't been able to find it's owners. From what i can tell he is very
friendly towards people, seems to like other dogs but is possessive when it
comes to its food. He likes to jump on people though so probably
wouldn't be good around young children. I am unable to keep this dog because
I already have too many animals of my own. I would like to find a home for
it since I can't find it's original owners. I do not think that this dog is
neutered either. seeing as it has only been at my home for
two weeks (we actually think someone must have dropped it off) i really don't
know much about it's temperment. It also seems to have possibly been an
inside dog because it continues to try to get into my house. If you could
help I would appreciate it.

We have a 17month old neutered male rottweiler looking for good
home. He is very sweet and good tempered but has some health concerns.
He has some cherry eye concerns and is walking like he may have a torn
cruciate ligament. We have not fully worked up and diagnosed his walk.

I live in Columbia, MO and have been fostering a very friendly female rott. for about 12 days. She stays in our fenced in yard, has a dog house with pillows, and is sheltered from the rain with a tarp tent, but she clearly needs a home in which she can be inside the house and part of a family. We have four cats and a small house, so we can't keep her. (She scares them quite a bit when she barks at them in the window.)I have exhausted all avenues to find her owner in town (I made calls and placed an add the first day I found her). We've found a few people who already had dogs that might have taken her, but she didn't get along with those animals. Also, from what I can tell in terms of the cats she "goes after" when I'm walking her, I don't think she should be in a home with cats. However, she appears to be housetrained and is a very well behaved, kind dog with a very loving disposition.I hope you might be of some help connecting us with a good home for her in which she could be inside and very much part of the family (she just loves to be with us -- I spend a lot of time sitting with her outside). Preferably, she would be the only pet in the household, which I know makes finding her a home more difficult. The only major issue with her is that she needs to be spayed. We would be happy to pay whatever costs are associated with her initial vet care and getting her set up in a new home. We also will be willing to drive her to her new location, whether it be even as far as Kansas City or St. Louis. Thanks so much for any help or advice you can offer. Penelope (Miss Penny), female, not neutered Penny is a 6 year old sweetie that was raised with an english mastiff brother with whom she liked to tease and compete for attention. Penelope is very friendly to visitors in my house - she loves attention and will sometimes demand to be loved. When we go for a walk or go to the vet, she is very mild mannered and does not seem to care much about other dogs. She is very protective of her territory and will bark and jump when a stranger approaches her yard. I love penny very much, but I am moving to a home with very small children and a man who is afraid of dogs. I think she would be best cared for in a home where she is the only pet, and could get lots of love and attention. I hope this information is helpful. I will look forward to hearing fromyou in regard to the possibilities for Miss Penny.

About a month ago a lady in Kentucky posted a Rottweiler looking for a home. This big, intact male, about 5-7 years old, had been abandoned to starve when his owners moved out. He ended up in the pound, and she pulled him. Brought him to her vet, where he tested positive for heartworm. Super-sweet dog; vet did not want to euth him. When I saw the message, I said I would take him. I got him last week, took him straight to my vet and had HW treatment started. Unfortunately, he is an alpha dog and is fighting with my other (neutered male) dogs. I can NOT keep him. Hes super-sweet with me. Is there anyone who can take him? I hate to put him down. He's gorgeous, but needs training and probably a one-dog home. I would be glad to help with his transport. I am in Birch Tree, MO. (about 110 miles east of Springfield.) Betty Goldstein

My name is Wendy and I am head of S'Wheat Rescues in Kansas City. We had a Wheaten mix come into rescue pregnant. The 3 puppies are obviously Rottweiler mixes as they look exactly like Rotts. They are very sweet and well socialized with both people and other dogs and are about 12 weeks old. Obviously, I don't have people coming to my Wheaten rescue lookingfor Rottweiler pups so I was wondering if you had any people in the KC area who would be interested in a puppy such as these. They are listed on our website, along with pics, at http://www.wheatenterrierrescue.org . Any help you can offer would be appreciated. Email:

This is Erin Fanning from Warrensburg, MO, and I am in desperate need of help! My sister and I just went on an 2500 mile dog run this past week over a span of 5 days, which brought us from Warrensburg, MO, through the length of Tennessee, up through Indiana, over to Illinois, into Wisconsin, back down to Illinois, into Missouri, back to Illinois, and then back home. We were able to provide necessary transport for seven dogs to their foster and forever homes! Needless to say, we haven't been up to our shelter in days! Upon our return, we have gotten a desperate plea from our shelter workers to help, or else they will have to put lots of dogs down this week. When we got back, we were astonished to see SO MANY dogs there-all their cages are full, and they have dogs outside (from dogs that have been tied to their fence at night--SOME PEOPLE!!!). The shelter has an older Rottie! We haven't had the chance to write about him since we have been on the road! He seems to be a bit older with some gray around his muzzle, but still energetic! I am unsure of altering, but I don't think he is. He is at a seemingly higher risk of being put down early Wednesday morning (since he is...an older rottie)! We would be able to arrange transport (anywhere in the east and we could get him there in the west--in fact, we are about to arrange transport to 3 acd puppies in NC, so maybe he could tag along:-) and short-term foster care while your organizations make room (if you're able to take them :-). Any questions you have about him, please respond ASAPso we can get any pertinent info! We will be up available night and day, so please

I have a female (not fixed) 1year 9 month old rottweiller that needs a new home.I bought here when she was 6 weeks old from a friend (both parents have papers). She is just way too big (I did not think about that when she was a cute little puppy). I have a one year old baby at home and she just plows right over her. She is a very friendly dog, has a very good temperment, I just do not have the time it would take to train her. She is house broken and stays in a crate when I am at work. She is just way too much for me to handle. I do not want to give her to a shelter, because I do not want someone to take her who cannot afford her, or who would change her good temperment and personality. She is a good dog, just too big for me to handle. Please contact me and let me know if there is anyway someone from your group could take her. My phone number is (314) 515-6158 (work days) (314) 428-0902 (home nights).

10 month F spayed was turned into a local shelter, which is now being shut down due to some really bad conditions.I have had her spayed, she is UTD on her shots and is on HW preventive. She is great with small children and likes cats and other dogs. She is extremely laid back and has no food agression that I have seen, and since she shares her food bowl with upteen cats and an 17 month sold (at times ) I think she is good to go. She is in NO danger of being put down as I have her at my home, but she is not happy there as I have NO yard and she has to be leash walked to go outside. She is located in the Fort Leonard Wood, MO area. She has to go to an indoor home as she is quite a lap pup. If you can help please feel free to contact me at my email.
