BACKPACKING THROUGH EUROPE
In the Fall of 1993 I quit college and spent my tuition money on a rucksack, a Eurail Pass, and a ticket to and from Heathrow. for the next several weeks I made my way through parts of England, Ireland, France, Germany, Hungary, Italy, Switzerland, Holland, Denmark, and Belgium. Here are just a few photos from this time-honored rite of passage in no particular order.
Soaking up the occult vibes at Stonehenge.
And soaking up even more at New Grange. Though there is no archaeological
evidence linking Stonehenge and New Grange, I couldnt help feeling that New
Grange was somehow Stonehenge's sister.
Me on the north sea chatting up the girl that would give me a ride to Dublin.
Me with Heather Farrell, a friend from the states who was studying in Dublin.
Actually she was my very first girlfiriend a few years before this picture was
taken.
The whole hostel goes out to The Flask in Highgate, London.
Octoberfest in Munich. These girls are from New York and would put my drunk ass
on a train that night headed for budapest, where they were traveling to by bus.
Ah Budapest
Dumore Caves, a LOOOOONG hike from Killkenny Ireland
A cafe in Budapest which was converted from an old prison. We believe it is the
same one my grandfather was held in during WW2.
Checkpoint Charlie
Highgate Cemetary
A Hunger Strike in Berlin. You wouldnt think it considering they were on a
hunger strike, but I had a damn good time hanging out with these folks.
Killkenny castle
Me in a flooded St Marks square in Venice.
