Romance, who loves to nod and sing,
With drowsy head and folded wing.

Artwork ============================================

How to talk like an art aficionado when you're just a dilettante:  "Hmmm...  oh, that's marvelous.  The depth of color is so impressive for its time - so very rich!  You know, Ms. Beatham, the simplicity lends a very whimsical quality to the linear structure.  <pause... slowly nod head twice>  But notice... one line is askew.  <listen> Well, I think that's intentional.  <pause... tilt head> Giotto was very daring for his time."

I'm being a bit sarcastic but so went a number of conversations.  I was employed at the University Art Gallery for a number of  years and learned the ins-and-outs of art jibber-jabber.   I can  stare at a painting for an hour and be intrigued (or at least pretend...) while talking to rich, retired folk.  That's a spiritual gift, man!  But I really do enjoy art.  Even the my-baby-brother-could-have-done-that variety.  <smile>   There's always something to see.

Edward Hopper  - simple.  nice.

Funny comic strip... definitely bizarre.  But always a little bit of social commentary there if you're willing to look and laugh (?).  CLICK!

Dogs ==============================================

Man's best friend.  If you've ever owned a dog, you'll know how special they can be.  Here are pictures of various canines.  Pictures of Rocky are here too (my late-great best friend).  <CLICK!>

Listen to National Public Radio. Divine nectar for your parched lobes. Sort of.

KPCC @ 89.3 or KCRW @ 89.9

Listen to Kitty Felde (#1 Fan) during the day and Larry Mantle in the mornings.  Neil Conen (Talk of the Nation) is pretty no-nonsense..  From Weekend Edition to the BBC at night, there's so much to like.  If humour is your bent, I highly recommend A Prairie Home Companion with Garrison Keillor on Saturday night (6pm).  Such wit and fun.   Catch This American Life (even though Ira Glass has the most annoying voice...) and you'll hear essays and reflections that'll keep you waiting in the driveway.  CarTalk will give you some good-natured nonsense.  And then there's the ubiquitous All Things Considered... ne'er does a day go by without it.  Here's NPR   And if you're in LA, here's KPCC

Dishwalla: Opaline

Such an awesome CD.  Haven't seen them live but I hear they're just as good.  Don't like their earlier stuff half as much but this CD takes the cake.

To Know Christ and to Make Him Known.

Once a Navigator, always a Navigator.  That's the old adage and it is true!  I was discipled through the Navigators and though I'm not with the group now, my mindset finds its roots with them.  Their view of ministry, discipleship, and the Bible will always stick with me.

That's a picture of my discipler, Mark Rood and his daughter Abigail.  Called to be a missionary, he moved to Japan a few years ago with his wife, Jin (a phenomenal Nav lady).  Man, the influence this man had on me is big.  I miss his friendship; we had some good times.

Talk about people with real, visible fruit in their lives. Would that my life...      www.navigators.org

A Future Classic?

This show is hilarious!  So creatively witty.  Just a big ball of TV fun.  I... I just don't know what else to say.  Truly incomparable.  Perhaps the Simpsons fit the same realm?  The humour - both a bit out there and whimsical as whimsical can be.  Oh yeah,  sarcasm - when timed just right - can catch you off guard and bring a hearty chuckle.

Watch the show on NBC - Thursdays 8:30/7:30 pm
