Place Value Bingo

I chose this lesson because it was fun to create and do in class. The students loved playing the game and it helped them with determining place values.  This is another game I did with my first graders. They were learning place values so I thought this would be fun to do with them. They were learning their numbers and the value of each number. They were having trouble with the work sheets that had the pictures of cubes that represented one  and little sticks that represented ten. As I did with the Telling Time Bingo, I gave out prizes.  I gave crayons, pencils, erasers, and scissors for prizes. Most of them needed these supplies AGAIN! I created cards that had the cubes/sticks and a numerical number on them (the black and light blue cards below). Those cards were my game cards and the white cards were the students game cards. The object here was to have the students take the cards that were place value pictures and match it with the numerical number and take the numerical game card and match it with the place value picture on their cards. This is a fun game and it was fun to create as well. I just wanted to share this because it was a great experience and the kids learned a lot from it.

Example: If I held the blue card that says 98 on it the student would look at their game card and look for the picture that looked like the one below.

This is the picture they are looking for:
