For the Good of the Gundams
Chapter 4: Unusual Situations
(Part 2)

Relena ignored the pain in her leg that was throbbing completely through her. Gritting her teeth, she prepared to fly out and begin to fight off the enemy long enough for the people to get out. The battle had already developed into many casualties and bloodshed. A rebel flew up next to her and talked to her over the speaker in her Gundam.
"Hey, Relena. I'll watch your back."
"Thanks, but I won't be needing any assistance for this battle.
"We'll see." Relena could imagine Raul with a grim smile on his face. She shook her head in annoyance and she quickly turned back to her battling. Her beam saver was out and she was flying to battle, striking several enemies down at one time. She realized the new Gundams would exceed her own and the other three, but she always appreciated Thunderbird. It was unfortunate it was considered to be evidence and was to be destroyed after the mission, just as well as she.
Her beam saver sliced through an enemy and before it had completely exploded, she turned to her next enemy. As the minutes wore on, the enemies became even more and more. They were difficult to handle. It was fortunately beginning to even out more with Relena there, when her leg suddenly felt like it was literally on fire. She grabbed hold of it to stop the throbbing, and her Gundam stalled and didn't move. By a cheap shot, an enemy came up from behind her and opened fire and didn't let up until she was on the ground and others began to open fire on her as well.
Suddenly, after Relena realized that she was losing, a large explosion occurred and she looked up to find another Gundam standing over her. It was just like hers in many ways, excluding the red star on top of its head. It continued to fight until there was very few left and they were retreating.
"Hey, Relena! Long time no see!" Relena frowned.
"Hilde?"
"Yep! Glad you remember me!" Relena smiled at her friend.
"I just saw you a month or two ago."
"Actually, three months, but whose counting?"
"Certainly not you." Hilde didn't give an answer. Instead she lifted her gun and fired it at something behind her and the result was a fireball explosion. It was obvious it was an enemy.
"Come on. If I have to keep my end of the mission up, you have to get up and fight for yourself." Relena understood right away.
"Which one's here?"
"417."
"Shoot. I only have three more and I can go back to the colonies."
"Me too. Crud, there he goes again! Hey, hurry up and get up! I'm not going to let my mission get blown because he wanted to be reckless." Relena got up and looked over at Duo, who seemed preoccupied with killing the enemy.
"All right!" By the end of the battle, Hilde and Duo were finishing off the stragglers of the enemy.
The battle was very devastating for many of the men, but the enemy was sooner or later demolished. Anger was the only thing many felt towards the poor victims of the OZ organization. Relena watched quietly as she saw people running around below.
The enemy didn't have a chance with three Gundams going at them. Duo was still ecstatic from the battle and Hilde was smiling with an amused look on her face the whole time.
"That's it?" asked Duo with a grin.
"Yep! No survivors!" said Hilde.
"This will buy us more time to get our things and find a place for ourselves."
"Why don't you guys come and stay with us?" asked Hilde.
"There are at least six hundred fighters and one hundred women and children."
"We can take it. Come on. Load your people onto our planes and we'll leave immediately."
"Whoa, wait a minute. Wait a minute. I don't know if that is such a great idea. We can't support all these people!" cried Duo. Relena expected as much and she was fairly unaffected by this statement.
"I understand. I guess we'll find a place for the families first then we'll find another place for the remaining fighters."
"You're not going anywhere. You're coming with us and besides, the moment you get out of my sight, I won't see you for another four years!" Relena smiled gratefully and looked at her friend over the screen.
"Well, Duo, what do you say? How about we just come for a while and leave after a week or so?" This was the first chance that Duo gets a really good look at the other Gundam. He gasped and his eyes widened in disbelief.
"Relena?" If Heero ever found out he had the chance to bring Relena and decided to turn him down. In more proper ways of putting it, he was a dead man if he did turn her away. "Uh, Relena, I didn't know you were, uh, that is," Relena laughed.
"I'll accept that invitation." She turned her Gundam and started to head for the trucks.
Because of the unexpected victory over the enemy, the rebels and their families would have more time to gather certain items and then find a place to stay, which would hopefully be at Duo's base.
"Where's your base," Relena asked.
"It's in the southern quadrant of Africa."
"You may not have noticed, but there's no way we can get there by truck, so we'll need another way of transportation." Hilde heard the smile in her voice and she smiled as well, in a more mischievous way. Duo felt that something had just slid by him and he hadn't even been able to tell what it was. He felt slightly left out.
"Well, it would be just like the old days, huh, Relena?"
"Yes, of course, and it will be even better if we had the rest of us. So, do we do it the good old way, or do we improvise like we used to?" Relena grinned. Hilde laughed.
"I say we improvise like the old days."
"Sure, let's get the people out of here and then head out!" Now Duo was very confused and wanted to know exactly what language these girls were talking.
"What the hell are you talking about?" The two girls turned to the screens and looked at
Duo. They smiled.
"Nothing, just talking about going to having some fun. I say we leave as soon as everything is settled."
"I agree."
"Hey! Wait, wait, wait! I don't understand what's going on."
"We're getting free transportation!"
The air station was quiet and wasn't expecting the coming infiltration. There was nothing guarding the nearby fences, for lack of security and the need to guard. Relena and Hilde smiled mischievously and they creped across the grounds, going unseen. They wore the same clothes from earlier that day, which were, luckily, dark. Hilde signaled Relena to turn and head for the docking area, and she headed for the security rooms.
"Got the improvising part down?" asked Hilde.
"Sure do. We've got all night to finish this up, let's just make sure that this is all done in sync. Got it?" Relena nodded stiffly. A concerned look came over her face.
"Is something wrong?" Relena shook her head. "Maybe I'll take the dock and you can take the security room." Her friend shook her head with a smile.
"You're insulting me! The security room is the easy way of doing this! I always did the hard stuff way back then! No, I'm not changing my part in this whole operation!" Hilde smiled and gave Relena a hard pat on the back and started to leave. Relena looked in the other direction. She checked her leg once again and saw that the blood was still there. She grit her teeth and pushed herself forward, heading for the docking area for the aircrafts. She smiled when she saw the feebly guarded area. There were scattered soldiers around the crafts.
Relena reached into her belt pockets and pulled out her handgun and crawled stealthily towards one of the planes. Suddenly, the loud speaker came on, and she could tell right away that it was Hilde.
"All personnel, report to the recruiting station for a roll call. Evidently, there has been some conflicts with the private utilities, if you guys know what I mean." Relena almost cracked up and because she remembered the kind of stuff Hilde had told other gullible soldiers before hand on similar infiltrations. The voice continued. "Uh, all the soldiers at the facilities around three o'clock today, please bring some plungers and toothbrushes. You have five minutes. Thank you." Relena saw the confused looks on the soldiers' faces and she almost laughed right out. Some didn't have a clue as in to what was being said on the intercom, but some explained to them and soon many people were laughing as they walked towards the recruiting station.
Relena took her chance and headed over to one of planes. Like an old habit that wouldn't leave her, she looked down at her watch and saw it was five minutes until ten. It was then that she began to count and started to work. Looking around, she saw the carrier she would require to take the people in. It was large and spacious and that's all she required. She would need more than that though, so she would have to count on Hilde to get the second plane and she knew that her friend was going to get it easily. Five minutes was all Hilde had and Relena was sure that she would make it. Like before, in their earlier months, she boarded the plane and headed for the cockpit, but unlike all the other times, the pilot was still in there.
He didn't hear her come in and she used this as an opportunity. Quietly, she prepared to knock him out with one blow. The man's hand came up and grabbed her wrist quickly and spun around to look her straight in the face.
"What do you think you're doing in here, girl?" he sneered.
"I'm just coming here to look around. My brother works in the army here and he would be very upset if he came up here and saw you hurting my wrist. He's very protective. By the way, all the soldiers and pilots are meeting in the recruiting station, and if I'm correct, you're late by several minutes." The man smiled.
"I guess you're right. I guess you'll be wanting to meet your brother then." Relena smiled innocently.
"I just saw him a moment ago."
"Well, then, I'll take my leave then." He turned and gave her a mock salute. Relena stood back and watched for several moments then she turned and smacked him in the back of the neck with her knuckles causing a small cracking noise. She had aimed for erasing his memory and when he was unconscious, she dragged him as best as she could and dropped him outside with a gag and a rope tying his hands and feet.
No one would find him for a long time. Then she returned to the plane and took her seat in the pilot's place. Finally, she got around to turning on the engine and starting for the runway. None of the soldiers were around at the time and she knew that they would probably be standing there for a good half-hour before they realized they had been suckered. In less then a minute, she was up in the air, heading for the secluded area that the rebels had chosen to stay until the forms of transportation came. As usual, the hijacking of the plane was a complete success. Now, she only had to make sure that Hilde was going to get out safely, though she highly doubted that she wouldn't succeed in this.
Hilde smiled at how easily the soldiers would listen to orders, despite the fact that they had never heard the voice before. She looked around the room and smiled at the young man that sat tied up and gagged in the corner. He glared at her viciously. Her smile turned into a grin. Then, she saluted and began to walk to the door.
"Thank you so much for your assistance in letting me use your equipment, I'll be taking my leave now." The door flew open and she was running for the dock. She had five minutes. That was the usual time she got to the plane. She was almost positive that Relena had already left with one carrier and she only had to get another one. She spotted the carrier and she knew she was going to get out of the base as easily as stealing candy from a baby. Her senses suddenly went on full alert and she felt herself being knocked out completely. Everything went black.
"Where is Hilde?" asked Duo to Relena worriedly.
"She's back at the base, actually, she's on her way here by now. She gets here usually five minutes after me." Duo gave her an incredulous look.
Relena sat waiting for Hilde for three minutes past her usual time of arrival and began to worry. She pulled up her sleeve to her shirt and pushed a button on a device on her arm. She found that her friend wasn't even close to coming back from the base she had left a while earlier. It was obvious she had been caught. Relena felt frustration rise in her. Nothing was going right it seemed. Heero wasn't even supposed to know she was back and then he went and told everyone else.
Duo always managed to show up in certain times she didn't want him to and this was one of those times. His face held concern and worry. None of the concern or worry was for, that was obvious.
"Five minutes?" he asked sarcastically.
"She's been caught by OZ and I need to go back and eliminate her." She rose, but gasped when the pain flew through her once again. Duo glanced at her leg and saw the blood.
"You're injured." It was a statement, not a question.
"Yes, I am." She attempted to get up, but Duo stopped her by pushing her back down on the ground.
"Since you're injured, I'll go and eliminate her." Grant it, he had no intention of killing Hilde, but it was one of the only way he was going to be able to go to her without any fuss from Relena. She seemed to think about it for a moment and then she continued to try to get up.
"No, I'm going." Duo glared at her and again stopped her.
"I'm going." He turned away and headed for his Gundam. Relena stared after him. She knew he wasn't planning on eliminating Hilde.
"It would be best if you didn't take your Gundam. If you're planning on infiltrating the docking area, you would do well, not to take it. Take a regular mobile suit. I can provide the transportation back to the docks." Duo gave her an evaluating look and then nodded stiffly. He was going to be the one to bring Hilde back.
Preparations were not hard to accomplish quickly. Duo was up in the air an hour later at the most and was heading for the docking base. He didn't plan on dying at all, but did plan on being caught. OZ wouldn't know it was him who had caused so many losses for their side in so many battles. Hopefully, he'll be put in a cell close to where Hilde was being held.
The plane flew overhead and dropped him over the docking base and then headed back for the rebel base. Duo gave a salute and headed for the base's most guarded areas. He smiled as he opened fire on an unsuspecting mobile suit. It immediately blew up and he saw the retaliating suits. He saw he was clearly outnumbered and immediately surrendered. His suit landed on the ground and he was surrounded by the enemy and was taken prisoner right away. His plan was going exactly as planned and it didn't take him long to be taken to the prisons. It was dark below and the prisoners were grumbling and moaning. It was so dark he couldn't tell who they were. Finally, they came to a cell. They were nothing but bars, horizontal and vertical. He saw the torches in the sides and then he was shoved inside with the door locked.
