The Story of...

TARA AND AMANDA

By Tara

I bet you, the dear visitor of this site, would like to know the full detailed story of Tara and Amandas friendship.

Well then, go make some tea, get some food, pull up a comfy chair to your computer desk and get ready for a heart-warming tale about two dear friends who meet under average circumstances with enchanting results... Oh wait... thats not us at all. Oh well. Read it anyway... or I'll send the following alien to kick your ass. I'm serious.

So... it's December 2002. Amanda and I are in the same math class and sit next to eachother. We had been in the same class since September, but I had yet to gather the courage to talk to her because I found her so completley attractive.

Sorry, just kidding again.

Or AM I??? Dun Dun Dunnnn!

Anyway, I swear this is the real story this time.

So... it's December 2002. Amanda and I are in the same math class and sit next to eachother. We had been in the same class since September, but we had yet to discover our amazing friendship potential. In this class one day, in December in case you have forgotten already (you idiot) (just kidding, I'm sorry), I wore my Labyrinth shirt to class. You know which one I mean... the one from Hot Topic with the glossy Jareth picture on it? Yeah, that one. Sorry I distracted you with its amazing hottness and read on. So Amanda saw this shirt and said something along the lines of, "Oh, I like that man! He's really cool!"

From that moment on, I knew she would be easily corruptible and we would be friends for all time.

So in January, I had an NOC.

An NOC is a "Night of Corruption". It's a Bowie party that I hold every once in a while (like on his birthday in this case). The guests and I watch hours and hours of non-stop Bowie, eat Bowie cake, listen to Bowie music, play Bowie truth-or-dare, talk about Bowie endlessly, etc. And if by some horrible reason we fall asleep, we dream about Bowie. ANYWAY...

So, Amanda came to this NOC and came up into my room and freaked the hell out. She was obviously not prepared for this much Bowie. It was overload for her. She crouched down in a corner and looked up only to see Bowies crotch right there on a poster. Poor girl. Well, needless to say the night ended up being a complete success and by the morning, she was corrupted into a life of loving Bowie. Works every time. An NOC will corrupt you, no matter who you are.

After this event, we began to notice tons and tons of similarities between us (so many, that I'll have to list them on a different section sometime soon). I realized Amandas Bowie potential, and we had lots of NOCs. She became insane for Bowie, which I think has kept our friendship strong. (Thanks David!! I love yoouuu!)

When Roseland 2002 came along, I knew I had to take her, so after a bit of hardship, it was set... she was on the train with me, heading to her first Bowie concert. The whole summer of 2002 was chock filled with Bowie and insanity (as you can tell from the pics on this site!) We had a wonderful time and became such good friends, neither of us could believe that we had only known eachother for a mere matter of months!

We have remained best friends ever since and stuck with eachother strong through some pretty tough times. At this point, I know we'll be friends forever. I think we owe it all to Bowie, at least for the initiation of our friendship.

Right now, we've been good friends for a couple months over a year and still feel like we've known eachother since birth. We even refer to events in "Our Time". For example, we'll say something like, "Wow, can you believe that Roseland was, like, 4 years ago?? Well, in our time." Or if we haven't talked on the phone for about a day or two, its more like a week and a half... in our time.

So, thats the story of why this web-site is even in existence. I can only hope that you people out there have a close Bowie friend like I do. If you don't, wow I'm sorry... that really sucks. My advice to those people is: Wear a cool Bowie shirt around people that you see often. It could be your ticket to an everlasting friendship. For serious!
