Creepshow

The screenplay as a stylized comic book with drawings by Berni Wrightson.

There are five stories in Creepshow, which is a homage to E.C. Comics (the publishers who made Tales from the Crypt). Here is a run down of the stories: "Father's Day" is a typical E.C. revenge-type story in which Nathan Grantham, the family patriarch, decides that even, after he's dead, he wants his just desserts; he will have his cake and eat it too, even if it means serving up someone's head on a platter. "The Lonesome Death of Jody Verrill" is the tale of a country bumpkin who discovers a meteor on his property and takes it to the local college's Department of Meteors, where he unsuccessfully attempts to sell it. He inadvertantly breaks it open, spilling "meteorcrap" on his hands. And then, as you'd expect, the story grows on you.... In "The Crate" a beast with a ravenous appetite has remained in a chained crate stenciled "Arctic Expidition, June 19, 1834." After Professor Northup discovers just what is in the crate, he realizes the beast within is a perfect way to off his nagging wife. By a ruse he gets her to come over to the basement of the science building where she becomes the thing's next meal. "Something to Tide You Over" is a typical E.C. story, using the theme of revenge. Henry Wentworth and Becky Vickers are in love, which sits well for them but not with becky's husband, Richard, who finds out about them and buries both of them up to their necks on the beach during low tide. But the best-laid plans can be all washed up.... In the final story "They're Creeping Up on You" Upson Pratt, is a rich man who is "bugged" to death....
