The History of The Common Cold
It was a warm summer afternoon when Pete Martin revealed his plan to Craig: Evan and he were going to start a ska/punk band modeled after the great Operation Ivy. They needed a singer though, and Pete wanted to recruit Craig for the job. Craig instantly signed onto the job, and The Common Cold was born. Although they were completely devoid of a drummer, The Common Cold still rocked out in Evan's basement. Their first song? "Knowledge" by Operation Ivy of course.
Soon Nick Chomut was added to the team as a drummer, but he sucked more than prostitute in Las Vegas, so he was almost instantly kicked out of the band, leaving The Common Cold drummerless for the second time in their short existance.
Craig discovered a new drummer living in Chatham, but nobody really knew who the hell he was. Some say his name is Phil, others claim it is Ray, and still others say Juan Pierre or Garfunkel. What is his real name? Maybe we will never find out, but the important thing was that The Common Cold had a drummer that didn't suck horribly (like Nick. I swear, he had to be the worst drummer ever. My grandma could play better than him, and she can barely stand up. Seriously, his drumming wanted to make me cry.)
So after just one short practice as a full band, The Common Cold had their first show at Dianefest 2K2. The band was a little unsure of their readiness, but everything turned out better than they could have hoped for. They played a fairly good set, with the standouts the first and last songs: "Bossman" and "Unity."
The first show for The Common Cold has been the only one so far, but they hope so secure another gig soon. They are currently in the process of creating original songs like "Diva Star" and "Kickstand."
Because every member of The Common Cold is poor, a CD will probably not be available until sometime after the next major holiday, but when a CD is made, make sure you pick it up as soon as possible and support your kick ass local bands.
