*One Year Later*
"C'mon buddy. Let's go see Mommy." Howie said. Shane gripped his father's hand as they walked down the quiet hallway. Shortly they reached the room they were looking for and stepped through the open door. The hospital room was bright and sunny. They crossed the room to the bed where Rhiannon was sitting, holding a small bundle wrapped in a pale purple blanket.
"There's my boys." Rhiannon smiled as they reached the bed, Howie leaning down the kiss her softly.
"Mommy, I missed you!" Shane exclaimed.
"I missed you, too, baby. But guess what? There's someone I want you to meet." Rhiannon told him. Howie lifted the still small boy onto a chair next to the bed. "Shane, this is your little sister. Her name is Isabelle Caroline."
Shane frowned at the small bundle in his mother's arms. "She's awful small."
Rhiannon smiled and Howie chuckled. "You were too when you were her age. She's only two days old." Rhiannon explained.
"Can I hold her?" Shane asked.
"Sure you can, buddy. Sit down in the chair, okay?" Howie gently took his new daughter from Rhiannon and carefully settled her in his son's arms. "Make sure you support her head. Don't let it fall back, okay?"
Howie sat on the edge of the bed and wrapped his arm around Rhiannon as they watched Shane hold his little sister for the first time. They glanced at each other and smiled, then Howie leaned down and planted a soft, sweet kiss on his wife's lips. Their lives were complete now, every hole that had previously existed had been filled.
