This is just a little section for reviewing *NSYNC songs that never appeared on any of their albums, or were not on the North American versions or whatnot. I thought since I was reviewing all their stuff (except for the Chritmas album, of course), I might as well go the whole nine.
Falling: On the "On the Line" soundtrack, and was on the UK version of "Celebrity". First off, I gotta say, I was reading last week's Entertainment Weekly article about how *NSYNC picked the songs for "Celebrity" from about 15 choices, and with no explanation, it said that this song was the first to go. .....WTF?! You can't tell me that "Do Your Thing" is better than "Falling". Granted, maybe I only like this song, 'cause Chris wrote it......nah. I don't think it's perfect, far from it. The lyrics are almost unbearably trite. Exhibit A: "'Cause I'm fallin', fallin', girl, I'm fallin' for you. And I pray you're fallin', too." But I like the fact that these sappy romantic lyrics came from Chris. Who knew he had a mushy side? This song is like another "This I Promise You" to me. Fairly standard pop-ballad, but it's just a damn pretty song, good harmonies (as usual), and Chris' voice (when you can hear him) is just gorgeous, kind of floating in the background.
The BeeGees Medley: Magnificent. Masterful. Bravo. Brav-fucking-o. I'm sorry, but the guys really are amazing. The entire thing is acapella, and they use their voices very cleverly, especially during "Stayin' Alive". And they finally gave Lance another solo line! Granted, it is just *2* lines, but hey, it's a start. And Chris' lead on "Stayin' Alive" is amazing, I swear to Christ I really thought it was the BeeGees there.
The Lion Sleeps Tonight: Once again, Chris and Lance are at the foreground! Lance is the backbone of this song. And Chris' voice was as made for this song as it was for "Stayin' Alive". And once again, they use their voices as instruments excellently, backed only by some drums.
That's the Way Love Goes: Done especially for Janet Jackson's MTVicon tribute. Once again, Chris and Lance make this song soar....oh man, that was cheesy, "soar"?. What can I say, they do a wonderful job with one of my favorite Janet Jackson songs, and I gotta say, it gives me a little charge to hear Justin say "I'll go deeper, deeper, baby." *drooling like a special ed kid* And even hearing JC say "Don't mind if I light candles, I like to watch us play". *shiver* Liquid sex, this song is. It's nice to see the boys actually be sexy, not faux-sexy and failing miserably (ex: Digital Getdown). And the video......day-um.
