I was flying one day, letting the thermals carry me. I didn’t care where I was going, I was having a yeerk free day. 

Free.

 I just laid back and let my mind wander. Suddenly, I realized I had flown to Rachel’s house, so I decided to drop by. Her car wasn’t there, her Mom must be out, and her sisters were at camp. She was alone. 

Good, I thought, we have the day to ourselves. 

I swooped down to the open window and looked in. Rachel wasn’t there but I heard the TV on downstairs. I hesitated for a moment, then morphed human. I walked out of her bedroom and tip-toed downstairs. Sure enough, there was Rachel planted in front of her TV watching some Soaps. 

She had that smile on her face. That smile that made me melt. The secret smile she kept for me only. Only her smile could make me feel the way I did now, and every other time I saw it. 

As I walked over to her a board squeaked and she looked up at me. And smiled that smile. Oh how I love her, I realized. My knees turned to jelly and collapsed under me. Before I reached the ground she was there, supporting me. I looked up and met her eyes. Those beautiful blue eyes of hers. I got my balance and stood up. She stroked my face, touched me on the lips with smooth fingers. I patted her long golden hair. Through all this, our eyes never broke contact. 

We leaned close together and I whispered to her, "Only your smile, Rachel, only your smile." 

She smiled back at me and replied, "And only your eyes will do." 

Then . . .we kissed.
