The
Tralee Festival Races
(22 - 27 August 2000)

All days of the Festival Race Meeting are afternoon fixtures - Tues:- 2:30pm ; Wed:- 2:30pm ; Thurs:- 2:00pm ; Sat:-2:45pm ; Sun:- 2:30pm, except Fri 25th, which is an evening fixture (start: 5:10pm). Thursday 24th is Ladies Day, sponsored by Shaws Department Stores.
This is the second year the the Festival Meeting will commence on the final day of the Rose Festival (Tues. 22nd August) and run for six days ending on Sun. 27th.
The 1999 Rose of Tralee, Geraldine O'Grady, will attend the Races on opening day along with the participating Roses in the Tuesday night final selection process. The newly-elected Millennium Rose of Tralee will attend the Races on Wednesday 23rd.
Feature Races:
- Tue. 22nd - Patsy Byrne Handicap Hurdle (£16,000)
- Wed. 23rd - Guinness Gold Cup (£30,000)
- Thu. 24th - Denny Gold Medal Handicap Steeple Chase (£24,000)
- Fri. 25th - Carlsberg Ruby Stakes (£30,000)
- Sat. 26th - Brandon Hotel Handicap Hurdle (£11,000)
- Sun. 27th - Barry's Bakery Novice Hurdle (£11,000)
There is also a chance for racegoers to win a car a day at the Races!! The models, which are sponsored by local businesses are: Fiat (presented by O'Donoghue Garages, Boherbee) on 22nd; Mercedes A Class on 23rd; Citroen (presented by Billy Naughton, Mileheight) on 24th; Renault (presented by Adams Garage, Mileheight) on 25th; Hyundai (presented by Joe Dillon, Baherbee) on 26th and Ford (presented by Benners Garage, Mileheight) on 27th.
There is a special prepaid group rate available for any day of the special Festival Meeting - £22 per person (Min. 16), which covers admission to course, reserved stand badge, complimentary race card and 2-course lunch on course.
