The Mack

IS

BACK

February 2002

Back in the late 70's I told my son I would get him some rollers like I had when I was a kid. I knew my cousin had rollers so we went to talk to Marshall. Marshall told  me some of his friends knew me. I hadn't had pigeons since about 1963. Who could he be talking about?

You guessed it Ricky Mc Zeal and Arnold Jackson. Ricky and I spent hours in the bird cage together. My wife at that time said I spent more time in the bird cage with Ricky then in the house with the family. He got out of birds in the mid 80's.Will he's back! In September 2001 I turned into my driveway and there he was. "I came to see some Birds, I think I'm ready". All right my

buddy's back and as you can see he's been busy. The loft is almost finish and he has two breeding stalls like the one on the left to start with. He all ready talked to Arnold and Marshall about birds so it won't long now.

Back in the 70's Ricky flew a kit of all whites that won him best of the day. He called them his top of the line. Some of you from the old CRS, MCRC, or CCRC may remember this kit. I was told they worked hard the hole twenty minutes. Ricky likes his birds 30' - 40' feet and straight over backwards. Our birds are a little more refined then they were back then but it's the direction he was going when he stopped raising. A lot of  work has been done over the years to get were we are today. Ricky being the good trainer he is, I can't wait to see his kits hit the air. I've taken Ricky over to some of the roller men close to him, we looked at there cages and birds. When I looked into his eyes I could see birds fever is back.

We are planning a trip to Marshall's house this weekend Arnold Jackson has already put a pair together for him so Johnny Stephens (Johnny Red), Rickey, and Myself will head to Riverside and check out some birds.
