Moose Jaw Warriors Prepare to Retire Mike Keane’s Jersey
- Sept. 29, 2000:

The Moose Jaw Warriors are pleased to announce that the organization will be retiring Mike Keane’s jersey on November 6th and 7th, 2000.

On November 6th a banquet and auction will be held in Mike’s honour at the Cosmo Centre in Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan. The evening will include a dinner, presentations and auction of sports memorabilia including authentic jerseys from NHL teams which Mike played for. Mike is extremely pleased that all proceeds will go to the Moose Jaw Warriors Scholarship Fund. Tickets are $50.00 and include a game ticket for November 7th when the Warriors face off against the Spokane Chiefs. The official sweater retirement and unveiling of banners will take place at the pre-game ceremony.

Former governor of the Warriors and chairman of the event, Barry Webster, believes that it is an honour well deserved. "Mike has gone on to the world stage both in junior and the NHL and at all times has represented the city of Moose Jaw and the Warrriors with class", says Webster. "This gives the city and the citizens of Moose Jaw an opportunity to celebrate with him."

Mike Keane played with the Moose Jaw Warriors from 1985 to 1988. He has played for the New York Rangers and won Stanley Cups with the Montreal Canadians, Colorado Avalanche and Dallas Stars.
